If a girl is for instance, 5 days away from turning '18,' a guy should have to get jailed for it. If this joint was 18, he would have been a Canadian Military hero back in his barracks.

personally i think some of our laws are a bit 'dated' what's the real difference between a 17 year old and an 18 year old? and why does that difference warrant vilification and punitive measures? this shit is beyond me, but it's LAW. With the rise of education and free thinking, i'm just thinking that this shit is going to change soon. People in general, aren't idiotic lemmings with no education, relying on a controlling government to tell them what's right and what's wrong anymore. many more people are securing degrees or enhancing their intellectual worth through other avenues, and are really starting to question the value placed on such laws.

In place of government telling them what's right or wrong they have news commentators, bloggers, self help gurus, religious half-wits, liberal/conservative crack-head actors/musicians and stupid parents telling them what's right and wrong. Their questioning of such laws are only as a result of their favorite idiot framing the issue to appease their personal idiotlogical bent. I think most people aren't really stupid just lazy and fearful. Doing nothing is far more safer than trying to stand up to the status quo.
If you said I had to chose a new age limit, I would say fifteen. Would I get with a fifteen year old, no, but as other have said, people are maturing so much quicker. There was a story on one the nightly news shows the other evening about the increased maturation of girls, possibly causing ailments and risks. Also, boys and girls are choosing for themselves to have sex at 11,12, before and after. Way back in the day, didn't people get married at like 12 and stay together their entire lives. Let parents, and the under 18 year olds take care of themselves, who is the government to say you don't have a meaningful relationship.
