Thank you sir. I don't identify myself as a Democrat and would gladly share the same evidence if I felt that Romney had the better chance of winning. As it stands, the data does not currently weigh in favor of a Republican presidential victory and is unlikely to shift so close to decision day. On November 7, I plan to start a thread that explains why the challenger lost and how much stronger the Republican field will be in 2016.
It is the devil you know vs the devil you don't. I remember the fall of 08 and there was a real undercurrent of helplessness and fear running through America at that time. Obama won on a groundswell of anti bush sentiments. The same furor does not exist this time around and the president has high enough approval number that I think he has a great chance for re-election. That being said if he is milquetoast in the third debate then the media will run with that storyline and Obama can kiss his second term goodbye. Romney just comes off as a bad salesman/prick to me.
hmm..i watched increments of the debate and impressively, Romney held his ground. Some say he identifies a prosecuting attorney, which was apparent in this case. But what many also say is he has presidential attributes, whatever that means. I know as a black man, im expected to support Obama and yes, I dont hate him as much as I did 4 years ago (ohh shit...does time ever fly?)but still, Romney is providing the challenge that Obama requires to reveal his true strengths/or weakness. On a fundamental level, both candidates had nothing (nothing solid/substantial)...on one hand Romney couldnt stop lying (he is a lawyer after all), on the other hand, Obama kept with his cliche-rish talks and personal anecdotes (my grand father this/that), and his last crack at the 47% was expected. Also, Obama made some incorrect assertions regarding Libya, as did Romney regarding women in the work force. Basically, its not like one candidate won over the other. But rather, they merely exposed each other to be what they are on an infinite scale: a bunch of lawyers (aka liars)
:smt043 I would love to put that up on my FB but well it would make some people show their non sense of humor.
This debate reminds me of the Ali-Frazier fight. Ali lost the first one, but he would come back to win part 2 and the final part 3 (Thrilla In Manila). I love a trilogy.
Are you serious Barack interruptions? Romney was the one that was out of order. For one thing Romney was breaking the debate rules. Romney was not suppose to ask Obama direct questions. On many occasions he was totally disrespectful. I don't even like Obama and yet the man has endured all kinds of disrespect. Obama was very respectful in the debate. What is you talking about dude?
In debates you must assert yourself to get your points out to the nation. Politeness will get you nothing. It does Romney no good to let Obama go completely unchallenged, everybody else has given him a pass for four years. Obama will only go on MSNBC and entertainment shows because he doesn't want hard hitting questions. So I'm glad Romney challenged him. But the President interrupted Romney's time on at least 8 occasions. It gave him almost 3 minutes less time addressing the nation, effectively eliminating him from one whole round of questioning. Challenging someone is not being disrespectful. Romney and Obama shake hands afterwards and greet each others families. If someone didn't shake hands and just walked off, that would be disrespect.
And yet...when Biden checked Ryan...somehow all the conservatives went fucking nuts. This is what's wrong with your line of thinking. You want wars. That's good.. The consequences of said wars..vets.. Can piss off. You want life protected...no abortions for oops babies..maybe even babies conceived in rape. But once that baby is born...it can piss off. Aren't service women already denied abortions if raped? The Romney Ryan ticket would make abortion a federal crime..so a woman who aborts a baby thru rape could go to prison for murder while her rapist serves 2 years tops? You want people (all people) to pay taxes..but come time to collect social security..all the sudden these people are leaches and freeloaders. And yet..the government gives huge taxs breaks to multi billion dollar corporations and this is known as business smarts. You want a government that does little to help the poor and destitute but you want to say your government is based on Christian values. That cake..the one you have and the one you eat too? Tell me.... Is it chocolate.
I had no problem with Biden being aggressive. Honestly, I think it helped conservatives because he came across as a cranky old man. Conservatives are for national security and giving our troops the resources they need. I don't believe any President or candidate has been "for war". These men are lead by their faith and they stick by their belief of "right to life". I'm not here to have a debate on the issue of abortion, but I think there is something to sticking to your principles. It's better than Obama going to church and then supporting non-traditional marriage and abortion. You are either lead by your faith or your voters...Obama seems to be lead by the voters. Conservatives don't have an issue with social security, they are trying to figure out a way to preserve it. Social Security will be bankrupt by 2033 and Medicare will be gone by 2024 according to their trustees. So right now I go to work every day and pay into something that won't be there. Obama isn't concerned because he will be long gone before that happens. Conservatives have no problem with social programs, but understand that cuts are necessary in order to fix our national debt issue. Its like if you were trying to get out of debt, but you keep spending on your credit card...never gonna happen. The Republicans are addressing the debt problem like everybody in America has to...how can we bring in more money and how can we cut down on our bills? The only person who wants their cake and eat it too is President Obama. You can't be serious about fixing the economy and lowering the debt without tax reform and spending reform. Welfare, food stamps, and other social programs are helpful but were intended for short term help. I'm a firm believer that "you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime".
This is actually not true as well. Romney says he supports states being empowered through the democratic process to determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate. Mitt also supports the Hyde Amendment, which broadly bars the use of federal funds for abortions. This will end federal funding for abortion advocates like Planned Parenthood. So abortion will not be a federal crime. This is me putting out a fire :smt113
So many misconceptions on Planned Parenthood and the culture wars on controlling women and their reproductive rights. Pro-life advocates are a dangerous, lying lot.
Oh, you missed the memo? It's dont feed the fish now. Ryan with change the motto on the American dollar to reflect that.
It's not controlling women at all. He's saying the federal government will not give money to Planned Parenthood to fund abortions. They can still be done as long as it's legal in their state. Liberals do everything to scare the American people and its sad, especially from someone who was supposed to "bring America together".
On the contrary, it's very funny how conservatives have the tendency to think that they should limit the rights of others. And given your attention span, I'd wager that you're quick to ignore the fact that Romney wants to end Roe v. Wade. He's a panderer all right, or did that escape from your conserva-files?
Unemployment benefits covered people for 99 weeks (now 73 weeks). If people still don't have jobs after a year and a half, that doesn't make you question the job the President is doing? I guess it's fine to take food out of my kids mouth and give it someone else. Just because someone has a job or is middle income, doesn't mean they're not hurting too.
