Russell Simmons Checks MEDIA FAKEOUT About New "Girlfriend"

December 11, 2008. It seems like philanthropist Russell Simmons is a little upset at the way that MediaTakeOut.com's been covering his love life. In a message he sent out, he scolded us about talking slick about his new chick Veronica Verikova. The message is LONG AS HECK ... so we put some of the highlights below:

I am of the view as a philanthropist and businessman that all press is good if it can help me as a brand or bring in more money to my five charities-especially in this time of economic crisis when every charity is struggling to keep afloat. However, I do find this blatent racism offensive. Just last week I was out with my friend Veronica Verikova and the next day had to read about "uncle Russell's brand new blonde bust down". She doesn't deserve that, nobody does! And yes, it is offensive.

Some people believe that if you date a person from another race you are somehow denying who you are. They believe that dating someone with a different skin color somehow makes you a self-hater, loathing that which makes you yourself. They believe that it's an insult to your parents, ancestors, heritage and community.

I find this view much more telling about the people who say this than about those who do find a physical, spiritual, mental and emotional connection with someone who looks different than themselves.

Choosing someone who I am physically attracted to and who also inspires, uplifts, educates and keeps me interested is my first priority- not their race. And if these bloggers recall I did marry a woman who was half African American. Furthermore, I have had many high profile relationships with African American women, such as the only serious relationship that I have had since my divorce (who some may already know) with my dear friend yoga teacher/model/philantropist Porschla Coleman.​

Rusyy, Russy, Russy .... we just telling a few jokey jokes here. Shoot, no reason to get all serious on us .... If it will make you feel better - we'll apologize to your new jump off in person ....

First of all don’t’ get it twisted, we love our mediatakeout. We’re not so upset about that you’re referring to [Veronica] as a Blond Bustdown. It's the response by some of our readers about interracial dating that kind of sadden me. Let’s hope this discussion promotes more tolerance. ​

The fact that he even cares about that crappy site enough to send them a critical letter is disappointing in itself. The fact that he would write another response to them and act as if things are cool now shows he is a bit of a joke. White stars do not hand over power to mainstream gossip websites as black stars do to the black gossip websites. That's troubling if you ask me.

He's also validating a gossip site...he's telling folks that he views the site which means publicity and more downloads.

Media takeout is pretty interesting but its still gossip..so people should take it as entertainment and nothing else.

 

Russ is the exact definition of what a hypocrite does and says. He says all of that while he himself is known for producing crap disguised as music that offends certain groups of people, including blacks. And he made a PSA about racism, which I felt was a farce. The best way for him to be effective in regards to race is to keep quiet.

 

Russel is 1 lucky mofo.
