for the most powerful country in the world, it certainly makes some strange decisions. why vote people into power just because they were actors or celebrities...??? ronald regan charlton heston arnold schwarzenegger shirley temple tried helen gahagan in 1944 clint eastwood ran for a single term as mayor of carmel in '86 fred grandy (gopher from the loveboat) won the first 4 terms as a republican congressman from iowa in '86 ben jones (cooter in the dukes of hazzard) served 2 terms as a democrat from georgia starting in '88 sonny bono i don't even want to go into jesse ventura
Surprisingly enough some actors are actually smart. There was a list I saw that showed some even have IQ's similar to Stephen Hawking. I guess smart people choose all kinds of careers.
Jesse Ventura actually had a rock-solid military background as a naval specwar operative, so I'm sure that added some credibility. We love our patriots.
Quite a few entertainers are lugging around elite-level educations. David Duchovny from the xfiles went to Princeton and the frontman from weezer attended harvard then u got the actors in Mensa.....
that i do understand jordie, but from the outside looking in it can look like its a country that worships celebrity more than making wise decisions that i understand as well petty...but can we get back to the fact that he was a glam wrestler
lippy fell in love with his character in kindergarten cop...the smartest thing he ever did was marry maria shriver...
Good question Tarshi. I would be wrong to try to answer that question as most ran for local or state offices and not of any state I lived in. I do know that Gopher/Fred Granby is actually smart and was in polictics prior to his stint on the Love Boat. Trying to find a link that sums it up about him...........wiki is the most detailed in one spot...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Grandy Excerpts: Grandy was born in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his bachelor's degree in English studies from Harvard University in 1970 and is conversant in both French and Arabic. Unknown to most television viewers during the height of his The Love Boat stardom, Grandy's political interests preceded his acting career. Prior to college, he was the roommate of David Eisenhower (grandson of President Dwight D. Eisenhower) at Phillips Exeter Academy and later was best man at Eisenhower's wedding to Julie Nixon. He also served as a speechwriter for Iowa Congressman Wiley Mayne. Grandy later served as president and CEO of Goodwill Industries from 1995–2000, became a political commentator on National Public Radio, and served as a visiting professor teaching a course on non-profit organizations at the University of Maryland, College Park, School of Public Affairs. In 2003, Grandy was named co-host of The Grandy & Andy Morning Show, a conservative radio talk show on 630 WMAL-AM in Washington, D.C. His co-host is radio veteran Andy Parks. Grandy is a member of the Episcopal Church. Grandy is also currently the host of a show on Retirement Living TV called Daily Cafe with MSNBC anchor Alex Witt.[2]
Arnold is a Repub and Shriver is a Dem, would love to sit and witness their dinner table political conversation.
Politicians don't have power... Why is it so hard for people to get that?? Every monkey in the zoo knows that politicians are not leaders and have NO power.
About all their good for is taking handouts from the people who really do run the country: the corporations.
Expect the dead to rise fromm their graves before The Governator EVER lands in The White House.. And failing that "rising from graves" bit, stick a thermometer into the ground and watch it daily...to see how low the mercury dips.. When it reaches zero, then...and ONLY then shall Arnie Boy be there in D.C., for Hell will have frozen over. 'Nuff Said!!!! OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
