Sweden urges tourists to 'Visit a Swede'

Swedish tourism officials have launched a new initiative to help travellers and expats alike meet “real Swedes”, in what they are billing as an extension of their successful Curators of Sweden account on Twitter.

The programme, launched just a few weeks ago, works hand-in-hand with local directories, as well as couchsurfing.org and Facebook to find events and to allow foreigners the chance to quite literally visit a Swede.

There it is! an official invite!


I only looked on the site and it looks quite busy, but I never really used it myself. Swedes, generally, are very hospitable.
Having a local who knows the language and the hot spots, especially in the trendier parts of Stockholm is gold.

I'd definitely check out Sweden. The only hard part for me is that its cold as f*ck out there.

I'll concede that much, it is cold there. The best time would be summer in June/July when daylight is long and temperatures are higher. After years of living there, I wouldn't recommend a winter visit.
