I went shopping today and let me tell you big men like me standing at 6'6 have to shell out heavy cash for the same brand of jeans that a shorter person will get.
It kinda pisses me off ... dont get me started with nikes i wanted the same sneaker as my cousin and mines were ridicules amount since im a size 13 or 14 in shoe apparel.

Growing up my younger brother and sister always got the name brand stuff my mom could never find the right ones in her price range for me so i was stuck with either hand me downs from my uncles or had to wait for when she could get the funds for them which usually was a year but for them bi monthly lol.

Now that i know what my mom has to endure with a tall cbild I realize she did her best and it most of bothered her to see me not dress the way my younger siblings dressed as an adult i understand now .

But dammit all i gotta say i wish big and tall had some of the gear that i see in stores like macy and stuff that i like .

Probably because they have to use more fabric, material, whatever. In women's clothing I've never noticed a price difference for bigger sizes when I've been looking. I'm a pretty average size UK8-10 so maybe I've just never noticed or something.

That what i never understood, they never make good sizes .. i always had problems with my son .. especialy shoes.. at the age of 14 having a 12 size shoe and also its a little wide make it very dificuld to find nice styles all the new styles are for very narrow feet .. and clothes are bad too .. he is almost 6 feet tall .. i hope he wont reach as one of my cousin he is 6"8 ..but my husband is tall also am not tall but most of my family is me and few more we not very tall but even most of the girls my cousins are tall from 5"7 to 6 feet ..now what happen to me i dont know and end up short :p so i am expecting him to go even more hope not too much more will be a big problem in clothes

It not just the size and price but the jealousy of men who don't like tall men because they get the women.

  7. They're sometimes more expensive because the further from average build you are, the fewer can be sold per template and production run in the factory. You need a template/run per combination of waist, leg length etc.

Most often manufacturers will swallow the hit to appear fair, but sometimes not.

On the flip side of that - is us petite people, dont get to pay less than an average size so we pay the same..for less fabric...so it evens out.:)

    LOL
well I am a shorty, and when I buy pants here, I always have to go to the tailor and let them cut to my size..... that sucks too, because it is always an extra of 10€ per pair.

The states are cool there they sell the pants by size and with diffrent lengght.

It's more expensive for taller women too, although it's better now than 10 years ago. For instance, in college the other gals could run to Walgreens and buy a pair of pantyhose for $1, but if you're taller, you had to go to a department store & get a pair of $10 DKNY's.

Also, you being a guy, at least stuff doesn't have to fit as perfectly on you. All these blouses with ties in the middle, I'm forever pulling them down because they expect my waist to be 2 inches higher than where it is. And I only ever get blouses with elbow-length arms, because if it's fitted there's no way the arms will be long enough.

Still, I prefer being tall. Seeing across crowds is more fun than disappearing in them.

supply and demand sadly, smaller market for the larger stuff and since they are looking to make a profit they gonna pass the cost along

alot of the stuff i have to get for my daughter ( equipment ) is a rediculous price for what it is, higher end buggies here cost about £300 - £400 and yet the buggie she had to have because shes s/n was £1200. i cant see that it justifys such a mark up but of course its a much smaller market than mainstream

LOL well the waist of my clothes is mostly to low, so shirts with waist are to big for me and children clothes well I don´t buy them!!! ( never go to a childrenstore... no no no). It is hard to find clothes when u are not in the usal sizes.... that is normal I guess.

The benefits of mass-manufacturing are a cheaper product generally. Not that long ago, all clothing was either made at home or by a tailor and, as such, people had very few clothes. Only own a couple of pieces of clothing and you can afford to get them custom made ;)

I don't know where you live but here in the midwest, there are a string of Big and Tall Men shops. I guess because the specialize in big sizes, they can buy them in bulk and pass the savings onto the customer.

I'm 6'5" and can get name brand clothes CHEAPER than at a lot of retail shops. My gf wears all of my t-shirts I get from there and they come down to her knees almost and she's 6'2".
