Who would the GOP choose that can be trusted in the non-conservative black community without being thrown out on their ears?

Steele and Blackwell are very accomplished in their own right. The fact that liberal blacks cynically dismiss them ass tokens is regrettable.

Barack Obama is a man that we can all be proud of, but Steele and Blackwell are no less qualified and also representative of their chosen parties.

Also, the GOP is does not need to secure the black vote to win because they have won 7 of the last 11 presidential elections with less than 8% of the black vote.

I already said back on page one that this was the stuff that keeps liberal bloggers busy but there is no legitimate source reporting that info.

Well they can keep winning without us, because trotting out a few pet monkeys to make it seem like they're a more inclusive party isn't going to get it.

    Welcome, Mr. Chairman, and congratulations:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/republicans

"Lt Gov. Steele became the first black candidate elected to statewide office in Maryland in 2002, and he made an unsuccessful Senate run in 2006. The former chairman of the Maryland Republican Party currently serves as chairman of GOPAC, an organization that recruits and trains Republican political candidates, and in that role he has been a frequent presence on the talk show circuit.

He vowed to expand the reach of the party by competing for every group, everywhere.

"We're going to say to friend and foe alike: 'We want you to be a part of us, we want you to with be with us.' And for those who wish to obstruct, get ready to get knocked over," Steele said.

Shelby Steele -- A "Bound" and irrelevant author for our time!, November 22, 2008
By JEK[IMG] (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
Obviously, Mr. Steele was more interested in selling his book than producing an objective and factual story line on Obama's chances of winning. Mr Steel was clearly more interested in giving red meat to the far right and gaining a seat at the neocon table with Limbaugh and Hannity than thoroughly researching the character and inspiration of Obama before rushing to publish a book that is NOW CLEALY DEBUNKED AND IRRELEVANT! I know, right! The country done had a black Prez, so let's get with the program too, right? Jesus, i could see right through their noses on this one. He was obviously chosen because of his race, nothing more. He represents not a single departure from previous practice.
