The Progressive Movement

Can some of the political wonks here give me some reference sources I can go to to get reliable information on this progressive movement. I keep hearing President Obama speak of the progressive movement and I pick up on it from various media. What are some excellent references would you recommend? Is this movement replacing what was liberalism? Was it ingrained in both political parties? I understand President Woodrow Wilson (Democrat) and Teddy Roosevelt (Republican) were of the progressive movement. Was the eugenics movement a part of the progressive movement?

Well but I don´t think that Obama is progressive.

 

Too many dumbasses in America for it to be truly progressive especially in this era of right-wing hate media.

Can some of you conservative explain to me what Conservatism and it's philosophy mean to you? Also what are you trying to conserve?
I have read books about it and thought I knew what it meant, but these days apparently it means different things to different folks.

 

Be careful. The very second one of them tries to play the "God-card" and throws religion into the conversation, everything they say immediately becomes null & void.
