    he doesn't advocate getting rid of the fed right away. he wants to remove their power to print money. After that he wants to phase it out of existance.

    Taxes can be collected if it is nationalized. Right now our taxes are not nationalized, we pay taxes to a private bank who is suppose to manage our money wisely...and believe me, NONE of our tax dollars go towards schools and roads.

    Ron partially audited the fed and found that they gave millions to European banks and dictators in other countries, including Gadhafi.

    Getting rid of the fed simply means that a state can tax its citizens or not.
    If a state chooses not to have an income tax then it will have a VAT tax.
    This ensures that tax dollars truly go towards communities and improvement of state infrastructure.

    Getting rid of the fed would mean MORE money you get to keep out of your paycheck.

    imagine 5% tax and keeping everything else for yourself.

    No, it would mean the tax structure would change and we'd probably end up paying more when it came down to it.

    some of the important things that are managed/taken out like ss and taxes we as citzens get back either later i.e. via police and other vital services or infrastructure and ss we get back seeing as how we have paid into our whole working lives.

    LoL i feel your pain and I've gone down this road before. People need to get burned by fire in order to realize its hot. Same with folks on this board, they need to get hurt really bad before they realize an over sized government that puts unconstitutional restrictions on their life is a bad idea.

    Right now its just a waiting game. We're waiting for the stubborn people to get hurt really bad before they finally wake up to the truth that big government is a threat not a benefit.

    @hntr18
    SS is unsustainable and it is an entitlement not a right.

    Ron Paul is just another fringe nut with dangerous and unrealistic ideas. Fortunately, he poses no threat as clear thinking people will in the end never vote someone like him into office.

    Big Government? The GOP and Libertarians want to impose big government on the people whom they are against. For example control over WW bodies,no taxation to the billionaires and millionaires,no public services to the poor and middle class, and oppression of people of color.

    Who's this Jesus person you speak of? Does he pick up groceries?

    Seriously, abolishing the Fed isn't a good idea. We'd revert back to the gold standard, and that would create more problems than it solved. People won't know where the prices will settle, exchange rates will be unpredictable and malleable by those that know how to work it.

    Not to mention the environmental damage involved in mining for more gold, which we would need.

    I can't find any evidence anywhere that abolishing the Fed would be productive, except from Ron Paul, who is an absolute friggin' crazy person.
