Voting ain't got shit to do with this.

Wall Street runs this Country and OWNES the political system from the President all the way down to your local Alderman.

That is why BOTH parties support illegal immigration for one fake-out reason or another.

I think some of your comments were uncalled for. such as You're too stupid. Just point out the problems. No need for that.

Bookworm, you can use fake documents to get it. They will not want them if the unemployment check is paying more. The cost of living is entirely to high. Something needs to be done with that. I can get windows for a dollar out side of the states legally. Why is it $100 in my own country?

What does it mean now? Any day of the week a cop could murder my husband for fun. It doesn't mean shit.

    Of course not.

Yup. Kinda like how they do Haitian immigrants now, which is horrific.

Yeah, but you know damn well you'd hear me saying it. I may be too much of a hippy for you to stand all the time, but you know I'm consistent.

    This is absolutely true.

But look at the converse: In the suburbs, where illegals are working for middle class white people, their children who are often born here & legal citizens have to go to school with the (white) children of citizens. The children aren't allowed to use the libraries, however, because their parents can't prove citizenship, so the kids aren't allowed library cards. That's the result of laws passed in Illinois to protect the taxpayer. But is it fair? Is it right?

Much as we don't find it fair that they can give birth for free in our hospitals, is it any more fair to force them not to?

Much as the taxpayers of Illinois didn't find it fair for the kids of illegals to be using our libraries, is the opposite any more fair?

There are not a lot of fair results in these situations, and more often than not you just have to err on the side of humanity. Fuck what legal status they have. We should all have access to healthcare, education, and work.

Chi I know you're a hippy and all about equality but I don't think you thought that statement through. It's completely unfair to taxpayers to foot the bill for illegal immigrants. For every illegal that is in school that's time and attention taken away from a child whose parents work and pay taxes for them to be their. It brings down the quality of education.
This is the major problem between people who lean too far to the right and people who lean too far to the left. One side wants to hoard everything while the other side is too comfortable with giving everything away. We need to find some type of balance because both have been proven not to work ie the Western Industrialized world in respect to capitalism and communist countries like the Soviet Union and Cuba

In a country driven by Capitalism like ours the answer lies within the purchasing class the consumers. Companies only have what we give them there is no Wall Street with a consumer base. The may push around paper but the paper is based on consumption of goods and services. I know its unlikely that consumers will band together especially when certain people have the purchasing power of a 100 people but something can be done we don't have to lie down and take it up the ass

Mexico should provide healthcare, education, and work for it's OWN people.

Giving healthcare to so many illegals will ruin our healthcare system.

Giving education to so many will wreck our educational system.

Allowing SCAB illegals to work totally destroys the job market for Americans.

ARE MEXICANS THAT IMPORTANT TO YOU THAT WE SHOULD SACRIFICE OUR ENTIRE STANDARD OF LIVING FOR THEM??????????????????????

American citizens should not be taxed off their property to pick up the tab for MEXICO'S ELITE.

We shouldn't be importing poverty..disease..sexism..and racism from south of the border.

Let them MAN-UP and demand their fair share from their own society...it's time they become MEN and get off our coattails.

True that. But if you legalize them, they will be required to pay taxes and put back into the system.

Yeah, but look at the countries that are leaning far to the left of us. They're like cartoons, they're so much happier than us. Everyone's going to the doctor when they want, nobody worries about being able to feed their kids, interracial dating is accepted and weed doesn't get a jail term. Left seems okay by me.

If you legalize them they will still send more to mexico than they pay in taxes.

If that's such a good idea let mexico legalize 30 million illegals from their southern border.

    I totally agree.

So it doesn't matter to you NOW even though you realize your children will grow up in a Country without healthcare and a living wage??...nor will they have the same STANDARD OF LIVING you enjoy now.

    YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS...You can't have a first-world existence with a wide-open border.....two things will happen...either mexico becomes a first world Country...or American becomes a 3rd world Country.

Yeah, but it's not going to.

Now, let me be clear: I am pro union, all the way. I in no way support scabs. My official position here is that legalizing illegals will mean that there is no longer a pool of workers you can hire outside of labor laws.

I also think we should require all US corporations to abide by US labor laws no matter where they do business, and I think that would eliminate outsourcing. Nobody agrees with this, because they think the companies will leave this country, but I say good riddance. You want to call yourself a US company, you abide by US labor laws, and US union rules.

I'm not currently seeing our standard of living being destroyed. Also, I live in a city where illegals aren't just from Mexico. Maybe things are much much worse further South. I get that. And I get the racial tensions between Black people and Mexican people, and I've seen Latinos be as racist toward Black people as White people. So I absolutely relate to the frustration and anger. But no, I'm not seeing the standard of living being ruined thus far by Mexican illegal immigrants. Walmart's had a far more tangible impact on the healthcare system, for instance, than anything I've seen from illegal aliens.

Who is being taxed off their property? Taxes went down this year.

And again, if you legalize the illegals, they will be forced to pay taxes like everyone else. No one has a feasible system for deporting all the illegal aliens. Current processes involve raids that sometimes mean kids arrive home from school to find no one home anymore. And that's only chipping away a tiny piece of the iceberg. They're here now. And the people who employ them are getting away with huge violations of labor laws because they are illegal. As long as they are here, and we can't get rid of them, legalize them, or make it easier to become a citizen, so that they can be made to contribute the same way the rest of us do.

    I agree. I don't have a solution for this.

If you look at the history of Mexico, they have done this over and over again, until revolution for awhile was just another part of life. It did nothing, but make their system increasingly more corrupt and more unjust. It will be a long time before their institutions are sound enough to offer any kind of equality.

But I agree that it would be better if they could earn fare wage over there. Part of that is changing laws regarding US companies when they outsource. A few very powerful companies are making a killing by charging for basic needs like water in Latin American countries, paying the people less than a living wage, and then when the locals can't afford to live that way, they employ them over here under the table. If you cut off the opportunity to work illegally in the US, while requiring US businesses to pay a fair wage when they employ elsewhere, there is no motivation to risk life & limb to get here and work illegally.

I don't see that illegal immigrants are what are preventing us from having healthcare and a living wage. I don't see any evidence of that at all. Seems to me it's mostly White people stopping that.

And... then the people back home will have enough $$ not to come here themselves. Win-win. Besides, they still have to pay whatever taxes are demanded of them.

My point remains the same across the board - You can't ignore labor law. I'm not that dense. I sincerely doubt anyone will want to pick fruit for minimum wage; it's a lot harder than flipping burgers.

I think the answer lies in amnesty and welfare reform.

Maybe. I don't know if people are that smart.

What you don't see is the most obvious thing...our shrinking middle-class tax base is not large enough to provide health-care and a living wage for BOTH america and mexico.

    SIMPLE AS THAT.

Whenever there is a LOT of anything it becomes CHEAPER.

    More workers = Lower wages

Unchecked levels of uninsured illegal immigrants = a destroyed healthcare system.

If you throw a party for 20 people and 2,000 show up....you will SOON run out of food....drinks....ROOM.....and FUN.

But one thing that makes this country great is the ability to determine our destinies a goal that can't be achieved if the goverment constantly has it's hands in our pockets. Where do you think the money to pay for all these people is gonna come from. I agree with Flame they should make the quality of their country better instead of destroying ours. Countries that lean to the left don't border third world countries and don't have to deal with 30 million illegals. We're pretty much the only ones so our situation is unique. As far as making them all legal all that would do is create an influx of citizens who can't find work driving up unemployment and creating a bigger burden on social programs like welfare. If they are citizens their labor will no longer be attractive because they will have to be paid minimum wage and given benefits which will be a bigger cost to employers. While I sympathize with them because my parents are immigrants I just don't see how opening the boarders up benefits the people who are already here.

Illegals already have amnesty...NOBODY is going to deport them. That's all the amnesty they need or care to have.

The reasons jobs pay more and are safer here is because of AMERICANS...not mexicans.
