    HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO

Herman Cain has elevated himself into the main three GOP picks to run against President Obama. He's essentially the GOP's "Waltzing Savior" with his straight-talk attitude and his non-political correctness. While he's favorable among the hard-right, the establishment Republican base would like to see Romney, as he is statistically the better person to beat President Obama in the general election (even by a small margin).

Should Cain get the nomination for the Republican Party, he'll have to run against President Obama and this will be one hell of a party. So I ask all of you the following:

    1. Would you consider voting for Cain?

    2. Does he have a chance winning the Presidential election? If so, how much of a percentage popularity wise and how many electoral college votes would he secure? If not, then why not?

    3. Do you agree with his 9-9-9 plan?

    4. How do you view him overall, as a person and as a political figure?

Again, this is just pure hypothetical thinking and notan actual outcome. Hope to hear your answers.

the 9-9-9 plan will give you a 9% national sales tax along with the state sales tax to increase taxes on people. He wants you to pay for both the apple and orange.

    Romney is right.:smt011

No, he has no political experience. He will be schooled in the end. He isn't proven.

no, as sure as old people don't like change romney is in. There is a pattern!

    3. Do you agree with his 9-9-9 plan?
no, he wants to tax me more money. 9% national sales taxes along with 6% state sales taxes!

    4. How do you view him overall, as a person and as a political figure?
there is no political figure. It does not exist. This is not his terrain. He is newbie!

I liked what I heard from him in the very first debate and the little I knew about him at that time. His lack of political experience concerned me. But I have missed the last couple of debates and I'm thinking I don't like the 9-9-9 plan so much. If I had to vote today, I would be up the creek because I haven't taken time to really understand what each candidate's platform is.

He has already come out against gay marriage. And the 999 plan will increase overall taxation for 84% of people. He's anti-gay, anti-choice, and anti-common-fucking-sense.

Honest to god, I dont think that added together the collective IQ of the Republicans running for president is more than 100.

I agree totally, and also, not to mention the recent revelations regarding his extensive connections to those corporate thugs, the Koch Brothers, who're responding for poisoning the environment with carcinogens, creating fake think tanks that don't serve legitimate purposes, creating astro-turf organizations masquerading as populist movements and contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to exert political influence directed toward furthering their corporate greed.

He is even worse than the average old shuck and jive career politician . He wants to put a national 9% sales tax on me along with my state tax! What politician has ever done this in an economy that is weak.

We have a national sales tax at count it 0%!!!!! This would increase it to the 9% along with your local state sales tax. no way no how! You go in to buy a computer at your local store for $500.

you have to pay also your local sales tax and then you have to pay the national state tax. no freaking way. I avoid the state tax now by buying online. Why would I want a national state tax? It would hurt the consumer and make it even less likely to buy products to lift the economy back up.

When you take the 9-9-9 plan and you turn it upside down, the devil is in the details

If Bachmann sees it, well ....:smt102

I'll likely be voting to the left of Obama next year, something that Cain is not.

In addition to the entire South, Cain would have to carry battleground states like FL, CO, OH, and NV to win it all. I don't foresee him pulling off such a feat.

It has been revised to a 9-0-9 plan where the poor would not pay nine percent income tax. Both plans are naive and unequal to the task of paying down our deficit. Flat tax schemes are devised to ensure that the wealthiest Americans do not pay their fair share of the tax burden.

He seems affable, certainly industrious but not someone I want leading the country.

The answers thus far, have been very good. I'm glad this thread is gaining some ground. I'll be sure to weigh in my thoughts on Cain in a bit.

I have friends who are Republicans, and they also decry the take over of their party by the extreme fringe which is the tea party. Current "left wing" ideas were touted by people like Eisenhower, Nixon and Reagan. There is no left wing in American politics anymore. The current "liberal" president is to the right of Nixon.

BTW with me? Personal insults directed at me based on my political leanings make me giggle. They make the insulter look ignorant.

Precisely. Anything which stinks of Koch is something I want our government to stay as far away from as possible.

yeah, people with political experience (i believe) will not realize how ugly being president is. Look how all the prez in the past aged compared to being what they were before.

I will vote for Herman Cain for the simple fact that he can actually manage to take a stance on both sides of an issue.

The man knows nothing about economic policy, he knows less than nothing about foreign policy.

If you have money/power, charisma, and can say things like "less spending" "small government" and "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" then you can pretty much be taken seriously as a presidential (or political) candidate. Doesn't hurt either if you can throw in a "Jesus" somewhere.

The front runners of the Republican Party have all been whack jobs and zealots up until Herman Cain. And whatever Mitt Romney is. Cain is a dunce. He might be great at business but 9-9-9??? It's even more frustrating that people were taking that seriously to begin with. He can't even explain his "plan" when asked about it.

Whenever there's a Republican front runner, they can never stand up to the scrutiny that comes with being the front runner. Which is why the GOP presidential field is so weak.

I'm not sure about the 999 plan because, I think it will waist time just trying to get passed through. I'm also scared that if it is passed (which I doubt) it wouldn't go away. I rather him go straight for the FairTax - not a Flat tax - all the way.
