I watch fox news and sometimes BBC news and CNN. Do you only watch channels that are in line with political beliefs or do you watch others as well?
I watch a wide variety of news channels - i despise most of them by the way - but the ones i hate the least remain MSNBC and CNN. For evening news, i prefer to watch CBS News with Katie Couric. I often flip through Fox News, but i only watch consistently The O'Reilly Factor. In primetime, i mostly watch The Ed Show, Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. In terms of print and other media forms, i fucks with the New York Times, Miami Herald and the Washington Post. On the net, Huffington Post, The Moderate Voice and Politico is where the party at. I'm not one of those kind of people who stay in a bubble - only seeking out sources that are either favorable, sympathetic or in line with my ideas. That's a fallacy in my opinion, and doesn't help you widen your intellectual depth. For example, i lean towards the left-of-center on most issues but I can watch Hannity if i want to. That doesn't mean i agree with him, or even like him for that matter, but the mere fact that you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you can't learn anything from them.
i watch abc for local news as well as world news with charlie gibson...i can't stand katie couric...i also get news online at aol & yahoo...morning shows i prefer good morning america...
I get the Chicago Tribune "delivered" to my work email every day....which not only gives me the main newsworthy stories, but also they give me Tribune "Alerts" for when really important things happen, like when the Bulls lost out on the play-offs. LOL. I also see the news on Yahoo and MSN. I also will occasionally watch the nightly news....
i just have never been a fan...i didn't like her on the today show...it could be her voice...her body language...any number of things...i love diane sawyer...kate snow...robin roberts is growing on me...
I keep track of the news by reading the free edition of the Washington Post newspaper and browsing several websites such as www.cnn.com and www.msnbc.com. I avoid watching the local news programs in my area (Washington, D.C. metropolitan area) because the anchors and reporters are quite aggravating to me. If I had cable, I'd watch CNN and the other news channels as well.
I get some news on the dictator's channels, co after that I can go on youtube and find out how fake they are. I also go to Beppe Grillo's blog, wich is the 5th more visited in the world and he speaks the truth. Yahoo talks only about shitty news and gossip, at least the italian version. There's no warranty to have real information in italy, since tv and newspapers r kind of fake, so I try to fill the wholes with the internet.
Are you talking about Berlusconi? I was in Bari last week and the people I was hanging out with kept telling me how much they love him and hate his wife. (Especially since AC Milan is doing okay I guess).
ABC and SBS news (Australia), LA Times, NY Times, Washington Post, BBC, sometimes South African news online.... The Australian and some other random newspapers here... I don't watch television. I try and avoid anything Fox related or anything which I feel caters to the lowest common denominator, which is hard in this extremely and shamefully serviced country. http://www.rsf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=554 :smt010 One thing I would try and change if I was the PM.
Well I hope you aren't too upset with your country on this. I 've met many people from countries that were glad to finally be in a place where they could freely access all sources on the net. People in Saudi, China, Syria, Iran, etc. are totally restricted to what they can read online. I'll bet in Australia you can access just about any source you'd like.
Sir Nose...Of course - I am aware things could be a lot worse - but I think it could be a lot better...I am fairly dispassionate about a lot of things, but freedom of the press is not one of them. Australia should be near the top - but we're not. Even damned NZ beat us - that's just embarrassing. Our Government is trying to put together a list of banned websites - mostly related to child pornography - so that these things can no longer be accessed in Australia. Of course, I am supportive of this initiative to a large extent, except that they then try and expand the criteria to include some regular pornography, etc. That annoys me...Not because I care about the content, but the freedom of choice. If you control the press, you control the people...and I, for one, would like to allow my people the widest variety, highest quality, and least biased press available. Essentially - I don't want to live in a country full of dumb-ass sheep. My major problem is that there are essentially two companies which control ALL media in Australia, plus a couple of government TV channels. There is no option on the media source, and I dislike the quality immensely. Hence why I don't watch television.
