    Help me out here….
On the chicken noodle soup, it was just a dance so I’m not sure what’s wrong there.

On the Fried Chicken, I did not watch all of it because it’s not my thing but it seems like some silly hip hop video to me.

I wish we could do more Shakespearean type stuff from time to time but I don’t think these two things are a true indictment of the social decline of black people.

I would love to see less hip hop BS but some people seem to respect it and no group of people will ever see eye to eye on art [if this is art vs. pure pop].

    My two cents….

Yes, those are stupid. However, black people in a whole are not responsible for every stupid person out there. Just like any other race.

Oh come on, man. It is just in the name of fun. I think you are blowing this thing way out of proportion. Sure, it is silly but i happen to be exhilarated by those crazy-ass Southern inventions (and i use that term loosely). It is silly to think southern blacks are a sign of the demise of black folks as a whole. Lighten up, dude.

    That's nothin

I don't care about black people, being black people...

I do have a problem with niggas shootin up Hummer limos on New Year's Eve killin somebody however.

That's what BLACK folk need to stop doing and the owner of the Tahoe in question was ALREADY in Jail on a drug charge.

Why should some stupid hop-hop shiet bother you when black folk are still killin each other over something called "respect" which you EARN from people you don't demand it.

    Help me out again.

What does a hip hop video that is clearly tongue in cheek and a dance have to do with what happened at that Texas college?
In truth, the message you are putting out is “we [black people] cause white people to look down on us” – Which is 100% bull.

I understand the black face thing and no black person with an IQ above 3 would think that it's okay but one of the biggest mistakes any person can make is to assume that they cause other people to either look down on them or to be disrespectful to them.
When you do that you make yourself responsible for others actions while taking all responsibility away from them.

Question for you... Do you really think that those party goers actually thought for a minute “You know I respect black people but those hip hop videos made me think otherwise, so now I'm going to go to a party of hate.”?

Some people think women get raped because they wore a short dress.... So I guess I should not be too shocked.
    Sad.
    We can do better. Really.

    Designer,

I believe in the saying "If you don't know your history you are bound to repeat it."

The first 2 video strike me as cooning, near the late 1800s to the early 1900s their use to be a time where black folks were tap dancing, banjo playing and shuffling too entertain white folks. I see this happening all over again with the young folks doing this dancing and clowning all over again.

Though some may see this as harmless I see this as black people lowering their standards. As for the college kids, for them to celebrate MLK birthday with fried chicken, 40s, and gang signs and color tells alot of what they think about black people. They may have thought this was harmless but it only reenforce the sterotype of black people. Remember, these are our future leaders who could decide the hiring of black people in jobs and such.

You may not see the connection of racism and self-hatered but show this to your older black friends as see what they have to say.

    White ain't always right.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH FRIED CHICKEN!!!!

If anything, fried chicken is a staple of SOUTHERN CUISINE. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THE SOUTHERN REGION OF THE UNITED STATES RATHER BLACK OR WHITE eat FRIED CHICKEN in the SOUTH AS WELL AS BARBEQUE!!!! There is nothing wrong claiming the food. No different with the Native Americans and corn, or Mexicans and beans. NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF AT ALL. Just b/c ignorant RACIST NORTHERN WHITE FOLKS have a problem with it, does not mean that you have to shun it!!! Please do not let WHITE RACISTS determine for you what is high culture and not. White ain't always right!

Just b/c Blacks were forced to dance and sing for White racists back then and now, and their culture was insulted and made fun by them (Because of jealousy of their creativity, technical skill, and etc...), does not diminish the quality and the creativity of the art of tap, playing the banjo, and what have you.

Furthermore, the Chicken Noodle Soup dance is a fun, creative, technically skillful youthful dance. Some of you need to stop acting like you don't remember creating fun dance routines and having fun when you were small children and youthful. Many of us did this when we were young. Some of you probably jealous anyway b/c you might be sooo out of shape you might just spring an ankle, break a foot. O.K., just kidding. In all, stop using White people as barometer to judge YOUR CULTURE.

    Peace and Blessings,

    Jacklyn P. Everage
