I don't know much about the tea party other than what is posted on their website.

Why is everyone on this forum so upset with this group ?

Racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, applauding people dying because they have no insurance, wanting extreme fundamentalist Christianity written into law....I could go on for days here.

    These people disgust me.

There's a ton of information on the web. Just take a look at the last several debates.

Ok, I know I grew up in Boston, where Dunk's are on every corner (If a Bostonian is out of sight of a Dunkin Donuts, they get kind of jittery), and I love their coffee. But I can't imagine any cup of coffee on the planet being worth $40, unless it was served by naked cabana boys and included a full body massage with the price.

I didn't make this thread to do my own research. I made this thread to gather people's opinions and their reasons why.

You've got to be one of the most idiotically arrogant or willfully ignorant people I've ever met in my life.

Who are you, WWBM's resident college professor???
Answer your own damn questions and do some research on your own.

For once, how about you tell US what you think you KNOW, instead of passing judgement on what everyone else thinks?

If there wasn't a Black President or a Democrat in the WH, there would be no Tea Party. They're an astroturf wing of the GOP, not a genuine national populist movement.

Most teabaggers financially are members of the 99%, but strangely they seem to advocate and vocalize for the rights and benefits of the 1%.

Why the hell would a sane person want to be part of such a group?

It would be like Black folk forming an Anti-Defamation League for the KKK.:smt030

I tried that when I first joined this site. I was unfairly attacked and insulted for respectfully having my own opinions.

Just look through my posting history for verification.

Refer to post #9, directly above yours.

This. The tea party was formed in the wake of social changes they did not like, and in direct opposition to them. The last straw for them, on top of gay rights, women's rights, reproductive rights, and the threat to the economic stranglehold of corporations over the process, was the election of a Black president.

For those following along, Herman Cain is a red herring. They will never, ever allow him the nomination (which they shouldnt because he's an asshole, but that isn't their reason) because of his color.

(The new guy I'm seeing says they won't elect him because Obama is only half black, and Cain scares them more because "once you REALLY go black"...I have to admit I laughed my ass off)

I've never seen any evidence of you being attacked or insulted, or for that matter you remaining respectful yourself. You've made posts that others don't agree with, and you've never shown any real understanding of the facts associated with positions that you take on your posts.

As to the current post and your suggestions, no one wants to have a one-sided conversation. If you are going to ask questions, you should be prepared and willing to defend them and take the heat, or simply not ask the questions, IMO.

It also doesn't help that you attempt to snipe at others using curt remarks.

Lots of generalizations, attempts to derail the topic and name calling. I didn't realize answering simple questions would be so difficult.

Seriously? People gave you answers and that's still not good enough for you? How many responses do you think you need and how much detail do you want in those responses?

The above response that you gave is exactly the kind of thing that makes people here hesitant to even respond to any of your queries or take you seriously because you come off as being in your own little world and not actually interested in what others actually think or their opinions because you already have your mind made up as to how things work or should work.
