Why I Hate Conservatives!!!

Time and time again when I try to understand the conservative point of view, the things they say and do make me cringe and question how black people can even call themselves republicans. Just this week alone:

    1) Ann Coulter playing on fear and hatred of muslims, stated that Barack Obama would "probably be our next president, President Hussein." (Last week she repeatedly called him B. Hussein Obama.)

    2) Laurie Ingram saying, "I hope they nailed down all the valuables" and "I cant believe they let him in the front door" when Al Sharpton visited the White House.

While these women are not political figures, I believe they are a clear representation of how conservatives feel about minorities. I can only imagine what they would say to the few, if any, blacks or minorities they would call friends..."Oh, but your different...you're not like the rest of them."

Black republican men...this is the mentality of the women you stand with.

are these media figures or something?

that was some racist shit, that one chick said about Sharpton..

now..if "Trick Daddy" was comin up in there, then yeah, maybe nail some shit down, hide the good cereal, etc...but Sharpton??!?!

    :p

on the real tho... their statements, really undermine the progress that African-Americans in this country are striving for, against the onslaught of "The Man"

Cmon - consider the source. Those women get paid to make shocking comments and the more attention they draw the better. I am NOT defending either nitwit, but to suggest they are some kind of realistic representation of women is like saying that Tiffany Pollard is just your normal average bw.

who the hell is tiffany pollard?

    :p

..just can't come in, start blurting out obscure names, then run away

    ...or...maybe you can..

either way..some of those remarks, reinforce the already negative image of black people in America, and goes against everything some of us are trying to do, to make it in this world..

I agree they are horrible comments - that isn't the point; his post stated he believes those women are a 'clear representation' of how an incredibly large segment of America feels about black people. Thus, my reply was about context and considering the source.

Uhhh, do you seriously not know who Tiffany Pollard is? I can't tell if you're messing around or not...Anyway, she is the crazy woman from Flavor of Love - New York! That woman is like nails on a blackboard to me, but then again, I could not stop watching her, either!

    TY for pointing that out...

I tend to read the first few lines of a post, then reel off some half-baked cookie-cutter comments about the moons, the stars, and how they are all tied to racism in america

Agree, he did that. But he did more than that. He said he hates a group of people, based on his interpretations of the views of two single people which he attributes to the entire group.

That's not cool. That would not be cool if you picked any group and inserted the same unreasonable logic to validate your hate.

And as far as the two quotes:

1 Ann Coulter is very fringe, not a very legitimate representation of a large group. She's a conservative "shock jock".

2.Ingram's comments on Sharpton seemed to be a reference to his past troubles with the F.B.I. and campaign donations disappearing (fortunately for him, one of the witnesses died) and not his color. I could be wrong, but it is a quote out of context after all and I haven't read Ingram before.

I do not believe "conservative women" are "anti black men" and I don't believe these two quotes give credence to that kind of blatant generalization.

These are horrible comments for sure, but PLEASE don't lump all Conservatives with these women. That is a very sweeping generalization you just made about every person who calls himself/herself a conservative. I believe these women not only say that to get attention but they are also the exception to the norm.

Those sound like excuses to me. I will admit Coulter is a "shock jock", but with the Iraq war and tensions as high as they are in the U.S. in regards to muslims there is no excuse for what she said.

And Ingram didnt mention anything about donations or past troubles and I didnt take her words out of context. They were direct quotes from her and they couldnt be more racist if they came from the Klan themselves.

I feel very comfortable using the word hate in regards to conservatives because its not as if you can look at someone and tell they're a conservative and my feelings are not based on the superfical (race, looks, etc.). But when you listen to their feelings about minorities and the disenfranchised, how can you not feel sick to your stomach?
That I may be, Tom, but maybe its because I have to be angry enough for the two of us, since Ive read about you slurping up Laura Ingram like a spinless lapdog. Get a backbone.

Hmm, Jelly there are good and bad people on both sides of the aisle. I am Republican for one reason and one reason only, traditionally, pre-this Bush, voting Republican has meant lower taxes. Taxes are the largest expense that we all face in this life. I do not believe that Democrats or Republicans truly care about black people or any people for that matter. I speak from experience as a past party chair that those in power care about one color GREEN. In my opinion, all causes that are important to me, social, political, economic, charitable, ect, are better served and much more effective when funded by private individuals or groups. Government programs are rarely efficient and usually create more problems than they fix. As a successful person, I give of my time and money to the causes that mean the most to me as well as starting businesses that provide a source of income and opportunity for others. I need the most of my money to do all of that, thus my view is "GOVERNMENT STAY OUT OF MY POCKET!!!" Economic progress and true wealth building are the key factors to keep in mind. If you have not read Rich Dad Poor Dad, start there.

So who's excusing what she said? I and (what 3 or 4?) others are just saying (and you haven't honestly addressed) that she's not representative of all conservative woman. Do you think Rosie O'Donell is representative of all liberal women?

Rev. Sharpton brings criticism on himself because of some really bad choices he's made and people have a right to mention it. He ran for political office and is under the same scrutiny as any other person who puts themselves in that position. He doesn't get a pass because he's an activist anymore than anyone else should.

That being said, the way this was said was indeed snarky and rude. As I said, I don't know the context and you didn't provide it. A direct quote doesn't make something not out of context. Your inflammatory "Klan" comments aside, she could have been hating on him just because he is black. Highly unlikely, but slightly possible.

I however, could see the same exact thing being said about say, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D) or Rep. Tom DeLay (R) a couple of white politicians that I wouldn't trust with my china.

Either way, how does this translate to all conservative women? Isn't that stereotyping?

Well now, who is making the excuses? It's o.k. to hate folks so long as you get to define who's being hated? Wow, just wow. It's sad that you feel comfortable hating anyone. How's that going to help anything...ever?

I agree with you Loki-a lot of people vote on issues that are of the most importance to them. Most of the time-these things have nothing to do with race-i.e.-taxes is an important issue to you as well as my family- votes republican(not saying I do) because of this reason. Has nothing to do with race. Everyone has issues that are near and dear to their heart-for social reasons or socioeconimic reasons. Every party has some over the top extremeists that does not represent the party itself. What is ironic is you don't want people to generalize and stereotype bm , but you are willing to generalize and stereotype others. When looking at comments made by those such as Ann Coulter, consider the source! She is not a mouthpiece for all conservatives!

Wow. Just wow. I don't know how to respond to that.

Hmm...aren't all the Hollywood rich actors, directors, producers, etc. all Democrats? Hmm...trying hard to reconcile that fact in my mind. Hmm...can't quite fathom how they can be multi-millionaires and be Democrats....Hmm...
