but racist to have a racial "preference" against something? For instance, if a white female doesn't like a black man because he is black she is a racist. However, if a white female loves black men because they are black, then it isn't racist.

Or say if had a small business and I "preferred" to have white employees over black, that would be racist. But if I "preferred" to give blacks the job, that wouldn't be racist.

"Preference against something"'s meaning may depend on the person. Preference against sounds negative. Some people could take it as racist, some may not. I don't think it's racist if somebody prefers not to date a certain race. They may not be attracted to that race, but they don't think little of them either. And some do think little of the race they don't prefer to date.

But preferring whites over blacks for work sounds racist, to me.

Actually its very racist for someone to say they wouldn't date a whole people because they're assuming everyone associated with that race is exactly the same and even that's bullshit because I bet my balls that even the most anti black ww or aw or hw would LOVE to date a Laker right now. Especially Kobe Bryant. Then you here all the "well he's different" excuses. Its all subjective. Most people are full of shit.

here in the uk we do have some of the prefering a job to go to an ethnic minority over white, mainly happens in local goverment jobs and sure its classed as positive discrimination but its done to ensure that ethnic minoritys are proportionaly represented in government jobs, police force etc. if it turned out all the jobs had gone to whites as they were the largest group to apply and happened to be the best qualified out of those that appied at the time a position was available no doubt folks would ( and have in the past ) screamed about it being unfair, hence the reason for positive discrimination in the workplace here ( they also do it for folks with disabilitys )

Believe it or not, I do NOT believe that it is racist. I think that people should be able to hire or exclude anyone that they see fit....just as long as it isn't a government job. I don't think that it is fair that everyone can have a racial preference in their day to day lives, but loose that right we they use their money to open a business. I don't necessarily agree with the practice of it and I know that it would probably mean exclusion of me, but I think people should have that right.

Are you stupid? If we didn't have affirmative action you know would happen. Minorities especially blacks would be hired less because there have been countless studies where white people tend to hire other white people because they relate to them more in an interview. Then you're going to see a higher rate in black unemployment and then public perception would further focus on the laziness and shiftlessness of bm in particular. Human beings on a whole are still stupid. The vast majority don't understand things like the fllacy of composition so they meet one person whose not like them so then think everyone is like that one person.

Wait, wait. All these are your personal opinions, not some kind of absolute truth.
If a white woman doesn't like a black man because he is black, that doesn't necessarily mean she is racist. She might just not like his appearance. I'm not attracted by peruvian guys, but that doesn't mean I'm racist towards pre-colombians featured people.

If you had a shop and decided that you want your employes to be any race u want, but just that one, that would be "racist". The more correct word would be "limitating", I think.

"Racist" and "race" are very strong words and I don't undertsand why people keep using them so much. Besides, it's uncorrect to use the term "race" because actually that connotates totally different animal beings. Like, condors and lions are different races. Black and white are different populations of the human race, which means that they difference in like a tiny tiny tiny part of their DNA because of where they lived for generations and generations.

And believe me... if a black man doesn't like me because I'm white... Racist or not racist... I wouldn'y just give a fuck! :smt017

If you have a preference, then automathically it means that you have a NON preference for somebody else. I don't think that makes you racist. This is talking in general. I know that there are some reverse racists somewhere too

I assume this is one of those 'WW love men with money and fame' things? I'm not an anti-black WW, obviously, but I have no desire to date a Laker or Kobe Bryant. I don't see them as any different than you, they just have a high-profile job.

Is it though? I personally wouldnt date an Afghanistani girl. Why? They are for the most part Muslim, and I wouldnt date a muslim girl.Oh, and I am not attracted to them either.I am not racist though. I think its racist to say you wont date someone, because you feel you are somehow superior..
In the same way, if a white girls says she wouldnt date a Black man is not racist, if she says she is just not attracted to Black men.

Yeah you're assuming all muslims are religious fanatics so that is racist.

No babe its one of those people who say they won't date a certain type of person is full of shit things. There are always exceptions. There are true blue racists who wouldn't mind hanging out with Tiger or Michael Jordan because their money and accomplishments trump their race. Its also a clear illustration that minority stereotypes are always about the worst that group has to offer.

    Haha...

How did you draw that assumption from what I said..Geez..
Its actually more to do with cultural clash. I know most muslims are not fanatics. I just feel the cultural difference between me and a muslim girl would be to big, and would be difficult to bridge. And also my family is very religious(Christian) and it would divide the family, which is a price I would not be willing to pay.

Well that makes them racist and shallow, two strikes.

As for the Muslim thing, I don't think that's racist actually. That's more a cultural thing to me since it's associated with religion. It doesn't necessarily mean you think they're fanatics, you may just not agree with what their religion teaches as a whole and knowing that would create a deep level of incompatibility, thus it's a deal breaker for you.

I think if a WW doesn't date BM because she doesn't find them attractive, that's preference. If a WW doesn't date BM because she can't see past the color of their skin to determine if she finds them attractive, that's racist.

    That's correct.

    No. That is a stereotype.

Ok, sorry, I feel very sociologically bitchy today. :smt016
