Do you work out? What kind of excercise do you like the best? I like to run, usually about 25-35 mi/wk. Did a marathon a while back and that was grueling! Never again, though it's fun to say I did one. VB and BB, too. Sometimes I'll lift weights, but never for an extended period of time, it gets boring. Anyone else...?
I now work out, 3x a week. Roughly 25 mins on the treadmill and then about 40 mins lifting weights etc. Its good stuff
I don't enjoy running outdoors. I get jogger's itch. And the treadmill has programs for weight loss, cardio etc. I like it. A lot
Yeah, i work out 4 times a week. I mostly do twice during the week and twice on the weekends. I run threadmills, lift weights, do my pecs and occasionally, i run too. It's good fun.
I "hate" working out, but i have to, because i'm so thin! lol i have the kind of frame that say, Bruce Lee had. he was a small man, but he was chiseled. i'll never be able to bulk up like most other guys, because my smallish frame won't allow it, but i can probably become more chiseled if i try! lately i've been going into the gym trying to work out, but honestly, i don't know what to do because i've never really worked out before. i have no idea how to build muscles. and can anyone give me any tips on how to gain some weight?? i can eat all the fast food in the world and not gain a single pound!
Bryant - Do not ever, and I repeat ever, go into the ladies forum and repeat this. You will be ran out!! As for advice on the weight issue, eating all the fast food in the world should be working, you must have some crazy fast metabolism!! I had a guy friend who had your problem, and he would start losing weight if he couldn't get in the gym and lift almost everyday. But if you haven't learned how to lift properly, it's hard to do effectively b/c it's all about form. Good luck!
haha..i'll be sure "not" to mention this in the ladies forum! lol it must be fast metabolism, or genetics or something. my father is built the same way (he's way more chiseled than i am, but he still has a similar frame) and he eats nothing but junk food and crap all the time. for instance, one time i sat there and watched him eat 2 cheeseburgers with 2 beers and 3 cupcakes on the side. pretty gross i know..lol but he gains no weight either. go figure. :smt102
I think eating the fast food long term is not good. I think you'd be better off eating a bit cleaner. Maybe you should invest in something Pro Gainer 5000 or something.
The New Guy's response Bryant, You sound like you are what is referred to in the bodybuilding/powerlifting world as a "hard-gainer", probably the classice ectomorph; slight bone structure and limited lean body mass, but no worries, you can still put on some size if you're really determined to do it. I'm no pro by any means, but a good routine consisting of basic mass building weight lifting exercised like deadlifts, squats, bench press and military presses can go a long way toward adding mass to your frame. Take time to read about the exercises and have at it. Theres and old book by Arnold called "The Encycolpedia of Modern Bodybuilding" that has a lot of information. Also, there is a site called www.bodyforlife.com that has a lot of great information for people looking to add mass, lose fat etc. Check it out, particularly the link called "size and strength"

It's all based on very a very practical approach. The "exercise" tab will show you how to execute the exercises and the "nutrion" tab will give you insight on how to eat help acheive your goals.
So this past week I have been getting about half way thru my runs and am losing my 'will' to gut it out thru the hard part. I don't where my motivation has gone, but I need to get it back!! :?
Reach deep within, you must. But seriously: Picture your man spanking your ass ever onward. Maybe that'll help.
I like lifting weights, there is just something about pushing yourself, and I like the boneless feeling I feel after really pushing it. I first got into it after reading Body for Life, I have always been real slim but had no definition. I don't like bulky muscles on woman. Just because a chic lifts weights doesn't mean she'll look like a she-male, it all depends on how you do it.
That's cool you lift - I used to but my muscles got tight and it interfered with running so I do some intermittent squats and lunges, but not much more. I think most women would have to seriously lift, and lift often, to get bulky. Did you watch Dancing with the Stars? Laila Ali was on and she looked incredible. She is what I would call thick as far as women go - but she managed to look fit and femine at the same time, not bulky. I would love to know how tall and how much she weighs. I'm about 5'11 and weigh about 140lbs, I think she is about my heighth, but would guess she is carrying AT LEAST 20 lbs more of muscle. Impressive.
It's funny, I always wondered why those who run don't usually lift. I don't like running all that much but I have heard from others when you hit your stride, it's freeing. Running also shapes your body in a different way than weights. With weights it all depends on what kind of look you want. And that depends on the type of exercise, the weight used and how many reps you do. I like the sleek look. My lowest weight was 100lbs (5'2) without lifting. When I met my husband again, he DID NOT like my anorexic look, so for him I put on weight, started going to the gym, now I'm around 125 and it is pleasing to him and ME! Didn't see Dancing with Stars but googled her and I think she looks pretty dayum good!
She does look good, we should all be so lucky to have perfect skin like hers! I love a woman who is cut yet looks feminine in an evening dress, the pefect combo... By the way, your kids are adorable!! Good advertising for IR match-ups!
