BM/WW IR sightings on TV

Mary Stuart Masterson.jpeg Rocky Carroll.jpeg

NCIS has an IR brewing...Rocky Carroll and Mary Stuart Masterson ended with Rocky's character asking her out to dinner...she said," it took you long enough"...Rocky's character had his wife killed in past years tv plots...

That's why I give Supergirl a pass on the IR angle. I feel like they really tried to do it, and do it righ. But, there was zero chemistry between the two of them. Their romantic scenes just always fell flat. And, they were written as well as any of the other DCCW romances. What else could they do but give her a new love interest?

We'll see if they try again with another black male love interest for Kara down the road.

I was thinking about Val-Zod, but he is on earth-2 and on earth-2 Kara Zor-el is known as Power Girl. But as we have seen with them turning James into The Gaurdian
it could happen, but as I said I don't think they would actually go for an actual IR relationship on the show especially with the main character.

Yup. They'll do it all day and twice on Sundays for literally everyone but black men

Yeah I still watch "Empire", but I've seen enough in 2.5 seasons that I'm not gonna waste my time watching any new upcoming Lee Daniels' shows (or movies) in the future. I'm not gonna get suckered into that new "Star" show from him that premieres next week:

The lead character seems to be a white chick & the show takes place in Atlanta, so good chance we'll be talking about it in the IR on TV thread in the future.
^Did they just pull a rachel dolezal?

Jokes aside, the fact that the series is set in Atlanta tells me there won't be any ir, not any straight ir anyways.
Well you know that if they are anything but, then there will be that certain group in the black community that will bash them for whitewashing and creating characters that are not "black enough." smh.
As it pertains to Star the lead actress on the series as well as her costar playing her sister are both mixed, she is actually married to a black guy.

On the show though this guy will be her love interest.

Oh Darius McCray aka Eddie Winslow will be play the abusive foster father role to one of the girls.

Y'all see the reason that Lee Daniels gave out this week about why he made the Lead character white:

Well, this is a curious discussion probably better suited for a forum in which one or more moderators had the drive, aptitude, and/or listening ability to ask a useful follow-up question or two. When discussing his upcoming Fox show Star on Tuesday’s episode of The Real, Empire mastermind Lee Daniels said his new narrative—which comes in the tradition of Dreamgirls and Sparkle and follows a modern-day aspiring girl group in Atlanta—is told from the perspective of a white protagonist (played by Jude Demorest) “because I thought that instinctively, the country needed to heal. And I think that this white girl is so fabulous that black people will embrace her, and white people will embrace her.”

Hmmm.

“And she has a half-black sister,” added Daniels.

Hmmm.

If the idea, which could use some further explanation that was not prompted by any of The Real’s tenured hosts nor guest host Evelyn Lozada, is that situating a diverse ensemble around a white character will help make the show more palatable to viewers across color lines, well...welcome to Hollywood! That’s the strategy of virtually every quote-unquote diverse cast outside of those engineered by Shonda Rhimes. Think about superhero movies or Pitch Perfect or Clueless or horror movies that are too guilty to kill the black characters immediately these days, so they do it somewhere in the middle. By and large, white characters are still the center of their narrative universes, it’s just that people of color are now allowed in their orbit. White supremacy is the law, it’s just less blatant. (And of course, there does exist art focused on people of color—it’s just when an ensemble is diverse, it tends to be the whites who are given the roles of leaders and protagonists.) You can’t heal white supremacy with...a more nicely packaged white supremacy.

But maybe that’s not the idea. Who can be sure!

Later, The Real co-host Adrienne Bailon, formerly of the girl group 3LW, asked Daniels what made him make the group in Star look as diverse as it does (in addition to white Star and her half-black sister Simone, the group features “bourgie black beyotch” Alex):

So is this Lee Daniel's Star IR-Friendly?
She looks Bi-racial in her instagram pics: https://www.instagram.com/judedemorest/

From looking through her instagram, her Husband is black & she seems very pro-BLM. Her Husband is Record Producer/Songwriter Ammo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammo_(musician)) who's produced for a bunch of big name Pop & R&B Artists

mjgrin.png
So they gonna have a bi-racial chick playing a straight-up white chick? Has that ever happened before?

If she has Black love interest on the show do y'all count that as IR?

biracial women have played white women before.

I wouldn't count it as ir, I've dated white passing biracial women before and honestly it didn't feel like an ir relationship to me. I didn't have the same vibe as when I'm with WW if that makes any sense.

I feel you been down that road and I think for me there was far less explaining. Not to mention there's less of a family taboo for both sides of your families .

Rashida Jones
In what role?
I don't follow her like that but I'm sure she has. Wentworth Miller is a male example of a biracial man who plays white more than black.

I was specifically asking about biracial (Mulattos. Quadroons don't count) women playing WW. We already know about dudes like The Rock & Vin Diesel being racially ambiguous when they shave their head bald. I think Wentworth Miller might be a quadroon though.

Anyways I don't think I've ever seen Rashida Jones in role I thought she was playing a straight-up ww, maybe racially ambiguous. All these majority-white movies/TV shows I've seen her in, I always looked at her characters as the token bi-racial/black friend (Same goes for Maya Rudolph). Kind of hard to look at her playing a WW when she has a famous full black father.

So basically his answer to white nationalism is to spoon feed it us. Only through appealing to white supremacy can we all heal? Smh.
Must be great living in that ivory tower nowhere near reality .

I think Lee Daniels has some sick self-hating coon issues. I got put on to the fact this week that he said something in the past about he's made his kids read Anne Frank 100 times, but doesn't want them reading "Roots".

That is the silliest reason for making the lead "white". He would of done better just saying "I picked who fitted the role, and the story I wanted to tell."
Especially when this seems to have a lot of negative drama in it.

100 Streets Idris Elba + Gemma Arterton

A powerful ensemble drama that follows three contrasting and interwoven stories as they play out in one square mile of modern day London. A former rugby player, Max, struggles to find a life off the field while fighting to save his marriage to former actress Emily. Kingsley is a small time drug dealer desperately seeking a way off the street. While completing his community service for a misdemeanor, Kinsley meets Terence, a local thespian, who gives him the push he needs out of his dead-end life and into a very different, creative world. George, a cab driver, and his wife Kathy dream of having kids, but a devastating road accident puts their hopes on hold even testing their otherwise strong marriage. Anybody can make a wrong turn, but it's the journey that allows us to find the right path.

The two actually have a sex scene in the film as well

You do realize we have an active dedicated IR in Movies thread right?: http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/f...rite-ir-flicks-or-films-with-ir-in-them.6793/

Also use the Spoiler quotes. This movie doesn't come out to the U.S. till next month or 2.
