Keep fighting the good fight my dude.I hear you loud and clear here TDK, to quote Bill Maher, not all republicans are racists, but racists are more than likely republican. As we have discussed before I spent many a year here in this crazy conservative far right state working from within the GOP to change the blatant and subtle racism that was omnipresent. Some gains were made but in the end I felt I could make more of an impact as an independent. I have seen plenty of racism from the Dems as well, but imo opinion it is not so much the blatant cross burning type racism but more the paternalistic, lowered expectations type of racism. Despite leaving the GOP, I still dont like the fact that minorities are under represented and when they are in power we literally have next to no voice and very few to advocate for change, and to educate.
In my GOP days, I honestly saw decisions and strategies that were clearly racist that were born out of sheer ignorance and lack of understanding not out of hatred. I and a few others personally influenced some change in state policies, because I was present to speak out and educate those in power who would have been clueless otherwise. There are some republicans who truly reject all of the homophobia, xenophobia, and racism that you mention above and truly seek a "big tent" platform that would benefit all people. Yes they are too far and few between, but again I believe we should be supporting and encouraging those types of republicans not turning our back on them.
Like I said never met a centrist. I've usually seen libertarians but they're usually republicans without the religion.I and millions of other centrists in America agree with you. Opposing Trump's racist and misogynistic agenda is not the exclusive domain of the far-left.
It's not a difficult concept....lol. If you don't get it now you won't everLike I said never met a centrist. I've usually seen libertarians but they're usually republicans without the religion.
I'm interested in reading some literature or being directed to a podcast or two
Of course it's difficult because I don't see these people you guys are referring to.It's not a difficult concept....lol. If you don't get it now you won't ever
Because as we all know, Trump has never changed his mind about anything, ever.SMH watching future Democratic Presidential nominee, Cory "flip-flop" Booker, lead the charge against DeVros.
You are either very limited in your experience with or perception of people....no offense, but there is no other explanation, Other than cognitive dissonance.Of course it's difficult because I don't see these people you guys are referring to.
I would love to hear the author's thoughts on some of these southern states' voter registration laws and the court opinions that have found those laws unconstitutional.

Yeah dude definitely changed his position during the Obama years. Learned the hard way how crazy shit can beI heard that this was Michael Steele's (former Maryland Lieutenant Gov) position as well.
If you say so somethings are clearly right and clearly wrong. There's no position that I feel so strongly about that would make me keep conservative company. I can not ignore the crude callous disregard for brown life I can ignore the constant collective agreement to hand power to people who at best try to govern women's bodies through b.s. morality and at worst try to take food out of the mouths of poor people. You are either very limited in your experience with or perception of people....no offense, but there is no other explanation, Other than cognitive dissonance.
These are the FAR left ideas you can keep.If you say so somethings are clearly right and clearly wrong. There's no position that I feel so strongly about that would make me keep conservative company. They support evil incarnate, I don't see the Venn diagram where we overlap on anything real.
These are the FAR left ideas you can keep.
1.) Feminism
2.) Socialism
3.) Gender Neutrality
4.) Anti Gun
5.) The Idea that Trees and Animals are on the same level as people.
6.) The Idea that all drugs should be legal.
7.) The Idea that prostitution should be legal. ( I'm ok with letting states decide this issue)
8.) Anti religion ( I'm not religious but I understand that religion and culture overlap. Moderately religious people are just fine.) I understand my Diest views about a Creator and science or my religion of "learning" doesn't work for most people.
That's off the top of my head.
Assuming you are asking me, thats a ridiculous question. A minority person can be conservative and not want ( or be ok with) to roll back the clock to the days of jim crow ect. The article raised some interesting questions as to whether additional viewpoints should be heard in minority communities, if the Democratic party takes the minority vote for granted, and what conservatives can doe to better reach out to minorities. Tough questions to wrestle with and worthy of discussion imo.
I found the following paragraphs from the article to have a particular ring of truth to it..
"Also, because black people’s painful past experiences with racism have unfortunately made black people hypersensitive to any and all alleged claims of racism, whether real or imagined, the Democratic Party can simply repeat the mantra that “Republicans are racist” to galvanize black people against the GOP. There will always be one racist idiot they can point to and proclaim, “See, Republicans are racist!” especially with far-left academia constantly inventing new types of racism and new ways to find it.
This is enough to keep most black people in the D column while absolving the Democratic Party of actually doing anything to improve the lives of black people. This is why cleverly positioning racism as the number one threat to black people, and constantly finding new ways to paint society as racist, has been a genius political strategy by the Left."
Part of the reason why I can't cosign anything conservative. That thinking allows this. When you give breath to this kind of monster they go on a rampage and destroy everything. I don't see the destruction in progressive ideas. Absolute worst case scenario people stay fat and get high.
Comments like these are why Trump scares the hell out of me. I used to think he was just being lazy or stupid with his stats.
Now I realize most the lies he tells are on purpose, to scare the American people.
Even if Trump thought the national murder rate was the highest it's been in 47 years, why wouldn't someone on his staff correct his error??
Because telling these types of lies are a part of Trump's political agenda.
Scare enough American people and they will give the POTUS more executive powers, until he's basically a dictator.
Even Cheney and Dubya didn't tell obvious lies that could be fact checked in 2 minutes.
Most politicians don't.
And here's the thing about the far left progressive ideas won't allow them to completely dominate because the objective is never complete domination like conservatives. Regulation on guns don't equal ban, even in states like mine there are just restrictions not all out bans. These are the FAR left ideas you can keep.

Everything you need to know about the debate between Ted Cruz and Bernie Sander over the future of Obamacare.
