...... People , say something here that you wouldn't normally say around White people. I'm not talking derogatory but maybe misconceptions, behavior traits from your perspective that you've noticed or questions you've wanted to asked but never have. Remeber, candor is your best friend
:smt043 . Actually, I think most black people are less shy and more outspoken and probably say everything they wouldn't normally say in front of white people, in front of white people. I think this thread might be shorter than it's counterpart?
That's why diplomacy and honesty is the key. You may have something like why do Black women get ther hair straighten? Do they not like their kinkier hair? I used this example because of what one of my co-workers said this weekend.Sista girl had her weave re-done for the holiday and said quite loudly and proudly that she "...didn't like my nappy hair." Funny thing was there was 2 white co-workers in the room. No one said nothing, like they would, but the hair on the back of my neck stood up.
Yeah, I know, that's why I posted this thread.... I went to my annual diversity session and they always split the room into blacks and whites. Each group comes up with a list of misconceptions and stereotypes about each other...and they gather and compare. Blacks are funnier because they say what's on thier mind and they do more TALKING AT the whites (all black folk ain't on welfare,etc.)instead of talking to them. The whites before they cite their list always issue a disclaimer such as... "...these are the stereotypes that we grew up hearing and not what we believe.." its is surreal
Interesting. I guess it goes to show the whole racism thing doesn't just affect black people. White people feel they always have to be on the defense as well (ones who care, or are afraid to seem racist) and always have to censure and reassure and stuff.
The loud black folks...even if the seem "mean" are usually the nice ones...the quieter ones have a much harder edge. (As a sidenote..I'm considered by my friends to be the most racist person they know. Some of my opinions would start wars. Think of it as a black Archie Bunker)
Man, when people found I was going to Korea...these where the reactions: "uh-oh" "don't bring back one of 'em" those replys came from white women. We had an incident where this white woman attack this Asian lady who worked in one of the military shopping malls,why? Because her husband left her for an Asian woman. A lot of white guys go to Korea and find Asian wives. Reason? They' re more feminine(?) than American women or they just fall in love. It's not an uncommon site to see on any military base
I work with a Korean girl. She's all about money. She needs the big house, the fancy cars. She got divorced this year, and is on match.com, and won't entertain meeting a guy without looking at his job and how much he makes first.
LOL. No, she speaks perfect English. She's not that attractive (really, she's not) though she weighs about 110 pounds soaking wet. She has a daughter. Does TKD and Hapkido. Won't date a guy unless he makes lots of money, and even though she has a child, she won't date a guy who has kids, because they'd be too much competition for her. Sound like marriage material? :lol:
