Here is the Chow mix Im babysitting: His name is Nana Chang (no really, that is what the name tag say).. sorry for the bad cell phone pic My guess is that he is a Chow/Sheperd mix - not sure. A good cuddly playful boy but certainly a Chow. Good thing I know Chows I love him though and I think its returned. [/IMG]
Unfortunately, I don't have any pets, but I love animals. Here is a pic of my niece's new puppy that I thought was too cute not to share.
big ups to people that get animals from shelters (you know, the ones that actually need homes.....) my german shepherd mix was from a shelter..loved her to death if anything, they need more love than any overpriced dog n' pony show chump
Thanks, pettyofficerj! I'm a big supporter of getting dogs from shelters. Every dog I ever had growing up was from a shelter, and I think they just want to love someone so much...I'm sure that's just my softy side talking, but hey. lol
you can draw parallels to adopting a kid. why make more babies, when there are enough in the world that need loving homes. I came from a loving home and I feel sorry for anyone that came from otherwise, you know...
Right on! To that end, I don't understand how anyone could ever hurt an animal or neglect them. It doesn't make sense. I'm glad to see so many people here with pets!
I am SO with you there! Both my cats are rescues. One from Houston ASPCA - he was dumped in a box at night at their door - severely abused. It took me 6 months before he even let me touch him without going catatonic... He is now sporting a lion buzz cut due to a skin condition but he looks very cool in it. And the other came from a South LA pound - she had less than 24h before shheduled for "you know what" when I got her. The Chow mix I just dog sat is also a rescue.
HUUUGE co-sign, we get all of our pets (dogs and horses) from rescue organizations. If any of you don't know how brutal and medieval the treatment of thoroughbred horses is after they are done racing, well click on the link below, be warned the pictures are not for the faint of heart. All of our horses were saved from the slaughter houses. http://www.purethoughtshorserescue.com/stophorseslaughter.php
Totally agree---And they GIVE more love too! All three of our dogs were adopted - found our last baby at www.petfinder.com - great place to look if you want to find a specific breed/age/sex, etc. in a specific part of the country.
