This is a very serious issue now. It said that 75% of marriages in America end in divorce, 95% initiated by women. Why do you think that number is so high?

I never heard that women are the initiators. I thought it was equal. Interesting... I think it can be a number of things. I think women feel they don't have to settle for less anymore for the sake of being "traditional". I also think that we live in a microwave society and a lot of people suffer from "Instant Gratification Syndrome", so if they don't get what they want NOW, they don't want it or they move on. Then people also get married for the wrong reasons. And lastly, I think people have become very selfish and think that people are easily disposable and replaceable. It's like they secretly and probably unknowingly, subscribe to the theory (this is just my opinion cause I say this a lot offline), that "What you can't do for me, someone else will".
good points ib. even though i'm not from the states, i am divorced and i initiated both the separation and divorce. from my point of view, my marriage broke down because of many factors, but mainly there was no equal footing....i was taken for granted, unappreciated, not heard...my opinions and feelings were not something to be considered. yes, in the "good ol' days" the woman would have just stuck it out, dealt with it and suffered in silence...luckily we're no longer in the "good ol' days" and women can get themselves out of an unhappy marriage if they want to. we don't have to make do. i think marriage still favors a man. we as women go out to work as they do, and yet i would say 98% of the time, we are the ones who clean the house, cook the meals, pay the bills & look after the children. if this is our one chance at life, i believe firmly that it should be a happy one.
I'm sorry you had to go through that Tbear. That sucks. Then again, now you're free to meet new MANY sexy menzzz who will appreciate you. I agree about the marriage favoring the man since the traditional roles are still unsaid in a sense, but I think divorce favors the women.
Always! On a side note, you know they say everyone has a twin somewhere in the world? I'm pretty sure my Ex is your Ex's twin. There are just a startling number of similarities there. Although I recall you mentioned yours was reasonable to deal with in the divorce, and mine so is not. SMH
thanks pumpkin...and you're right...!!! i also agree that the majority of divorces favor women...i have seen a number where the ex-husbands are loaded and have been able to shuffle all their money around so accountants can't find it, claim poverty almost, then when the divorce is through they become rich again. it's frightening isn't it...!!! and yes mine was reasonable to deal with during the divorce and after as well. i hope your divorce comes through sooner rather than later espy and you can put it all behind you...!!!
Me too Tarshi. I have a meeting with him and the attorneys tomorrow afternoon. I'm done playing, I've tried nice and reasonable and it's got me nowhere. It's been almost a year and I'm tired of the games. It's either about to get much better or much worse after tomorrow, and frankly I don't care which at this point, I just need to know what to prepare myself for. If he doesn't see things my way, I'm going to drag this out as long as humanly possible, because it occurred to me that I can do something he can't... pay my attorney indefinitely. It's the equivalent to burning cash in the fireplace, but it's time to spread some of the discomfort over to his side, and I'm willing to pay to achieve that.
