Actually, Tiglath Pileser III (I read a biography on him two years ago) was a Neo-Assyrian who made his conquests count, much like the Hittites did. Where previous kings had merely pillaged lands for booty and moved on, he put long-lasting slave operations into place. Even when a dozen or so kings banned together to fight him, he still won. I place him in the same category as Sargon I. That's pretty much what I said...so we're in agreement. Yes, it is. Once again, we're in agreement. Yeah, my best friend's belief is that Jesus is Lucifer. I was merely highlighting what I believe is the earliest mention of Lucifer. The passage which first equates Lucifer with someone who has fallen. I guess. It is a word, not a name, after all. See ya.
I just did a Wiki search and he did usurp the throne of Babylon (it's amazing how much you can forget in two years) from the king Nabu-mukin-zeri and crown himself. So, you're right about that and I am also right about him being a Neo-Assyrian king. But that still doesn't make him the king that Isaiah was referring to.
This is what I know. The serpent was a created being. The serpent's head will be bruised by Eve's seed. It (Eve's seed) heel will be bruised by the serpent's seed. Is the serpent, the devil, satan, lucifer? I know this. The devil can be an angel of light and his MO is the following: based on Genesis and his seduction of Eve's logic. 1. First create doubt 2. Probe to know what knowledge of the Word is 3. Tell the lie to the doubting ear so the lie will be believed 4. Mix truth with the lie for the lie to then become the truth. And my, my my, I think the internet is well served by the tricky ole devil himself in the plythora of misinformation that is circulating on the highway of sheeple. Who can anyone believe anymore? Who are the experts that we choose to believe? The devil is a created angel. Call him what you want. He exists to reek havoc on humanity and will try to get as many as he can to give God the finger. He will do so with cunning and deception with bits of truth sprinkled here and there to lead the lemmings over the cliff while he's laughing his beautiful head off. He is not that gross picture that literature has painted of a red horned ugly mug with a pointed pitchfork. No, he's a master of disguise and deception. But his days are numbered. His eternal hold on humanity, his head crushed at the the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God incarnate. This is what I know. It is a faith based on sound Biblical exegesis about angels.
DJ and BMJ Since you've talked about Isaiah what are your thoughts on the following passage: Ezekiel 28:12-19 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."
I'm not gonna make any arguments against what you said in this message because it's your faith, and it doesn't matter what I think.
It's a lot like the Isaiah passage. The king of Tyre that he's referring to is not given a name, and his downfall is condescendingly predicted.
there is a difference between a biblically religious person and a biblically spiritually guided person. That is where people make mistakes I believe.
when hard times come you have to BUILD a bridge over it. thus building takes work and planning. its not easy. you will have hard times. it will not be an over nite thang. you will have fears such as what if it does not work. you may even fail once , twice or three times but you have to do it or die. what are the repercussions if you do this or that ? can you get thru it and how ? where there is no struggle there is no progress. --- I forget who made that qoute. a bridge over troubled waters. simon and garfunkel
