It's understandable! My parents drive me nuts too...LOL I know with me, I wouldn't know some of my relatives if we didn't have the same bloodline.
It's not just black females that has praised darkskin men. You also have white and Latinas that feel way they do. I have yet to see a large group of women give lightskin black men any praise whatsoever. It's like even if you're handsome they still not going to give you the props that they'll give a darkskin dude of the same or lesser quality. The only women that I've dated that actually preferred lightskin black men are Mexican and Puerto Rican women. Even they're few and in between. I'm not hatin or nothing like that. I just find this thread to be absurd.
Am i lucky to be from an African country or what?...The color thing, rarely features in much of my daily endeavors. It is understandable though, based on the American history, why this color issue is ever hanging on the lips of many.
Best thread ever! I never even knew there was a LS/DS issue until I came here. I'm still baffled by it, even though I know all the "reasons" given to explain it. (Field/House/Media/Images, etc). Having said that I have noticed most of the Black men I have attracted and found myself attracted to are medium to dark-dark. Its not a contrast thing either for me since I have Mediterranean skin, it's just they are sooo beautiful to me!
And on our behalf. Thank you. But I wouldn't sleep on LS dudes. I saw Resident Evil last weekend and the women were practically dripping so loud it sounded like a waterfall when Boris came on the screen.
I think it boils down to someone being attractive, be it light or dark and ones preference. I tend to date the middle skinned dudes, but if a handsome light skinned or dark skinned dude stepped to me, I'd give him a chance in a heartbeat.
