The key is not to allow those mediocre minds to quench that great spirit, but thankfully it's not easy for them to do because it's... "An inward flame; a lamp that the world blows upon but never puts out." Margo Asquith
Edgar Allan Poe Deep, into that darkness peering, Long I stood there, Wondering... Fearing... Doubting...
It's not enough to succeed. Others must fail. other variations: “It is not enough for me to win. My enemies must lose.” "It is not enough that I succeed — everyone else must fail." "Apparently, a democracy is a place where numerous elections are held at great cost without issues and with interchangeable candidates." -Gore Vidal
Human beings by our vary nature are adaptable, we adjust to a myriad and infinite number of possibilities, circumstances, and environments. We can handle acceptance or rejection... love, hate, and everything inbetween... but what we cannot deal with is depraved indifference... that oppresive silence that still manages to convey in a deafening scream inside the soul... You just don't matter.
I was thinking this very thing today... We as human beings have this vast array of emotions, but it all comes down to seeking validation.
