Thanks for the rep Espy. I was reading about it online and I think you might be right. I made an appt. for tomorrow. I wonder what triggered it recently? It's horrible though it's really been ruining my days as I need to keep napping and even then I still get the panic attacks/sweats. I didn't realise 20 year olds got this, I thought it was a childhood thing.
No actually night terrors are more common in adults as far as I know, and typically triggered either by a traumatic event, similar to PTSD, or caused by something like hypothyroidism, pituitary issues, or other hormone deficiency. They are essentially like nightmares in 3D, they're startlingly real feeling and they can linger even after you're awake, for instance it may feel as if someone or something is in the room with you, and you can smell them, or hear them breathing. It takes a bit for your brain to wake up enough to realize it's not real, so they can be really frightening for people. I hope you discover the cause LS and it's something you can remedy soon.
