I was at Walmart trying to get one of those hella cheap beater ones. I heard on the news that most stores had about 9 in stock. Kinda fucked up how they advertise it like that when they barely have any in stock. Best buy had a similar deal but I wasn't camping out in that weather.

I made my 1s New Year's Resolution for 2011, & that is to stop watching so much tv. So what I'm going to do is buy a lot of games for my Xbox 360 & play them, buy a lot of DVDs, & buy books. It's hard to find books that caters to men, Most books are on either sports, dating, or bios. I did find one author that I might so I hope he written alot of books. EIther way it should keep me away from TV since so much negative news on tv lately.

I have discovered the secret to tolerating my mother, and improving my mood at the same time... spend all day in the kitchen with my MP3 player up just loud enough to drown out the sound of her voice. Of course she couldn't resist commenting on the earphones being in, so like a polite host I docked it instead & selected a specific playlist... after Linkin Park, Hedley, & Eminem she asked me to please put the earphones back in. :D

I love predictable people. Like Athena I've elevated being bitchy to an art form today. That will improve around 9 am tomorrow morning when her car leaves my driveway with her in it. :smt038

Buy the book version of movies, they're bound to be better because the movies were based of them & they often have mich more detail. I read all the Bourne books, those were good.

All I have to say is...or rather do is...lol

I agree that books are pretty much always better than the movies.

And I know I'm being ugly FRESH, but she's just not a nice person to be around. She told my 7 year old niece that she had really thick, bulky wrists... can you imagine telling a child that, and yes she is too plump, but still she's a little kid and you just shouldn't say hurtful stuff like that to kids. I walked through just as she said it and would have taken her aside to caution her, but my son beat me to it, he called her on it in front of everyone. She said that it wasn't an awful or mean thing to say, it was just the truth, and she loved her granddaughter whether she was hefty or not. Some people just have no idea what constitutes appropriate speech. :smt011

Has your mom always been mean? Does she act mean towards strangers or other company?

What's to be said about your mother, she's never going to change her ways this late in the game...you just have to deal with her on a case-by-case basis, while trying to stay calm in each one. Her gift to you is an exercise of patients. politeness and manners. Large ankles = Kankles, what would be a term for wrist = ? (not to be mean).

She doesn't think she's mean, she thinks she's direct. So yes, she's always been direct. She tends to pick out the negative and comment on it. My sister's just pretend they don't hear her, I on the other hand always respond to her. I do try to keep it polite, but I fail sometimes, it just depends on how much patience I have with her at the moment. Because she really irritated me last week, she was already on shaky ground before she got here.

She and I had a come to Jesus meeting about 3 years ago, she really pissed me off, and I just completely lost control of my mouth. Her comment lasted about a minute, my reply lasted about 10 minutes. Once I started I just could not shut myself down, but since then she cuts a wider path around me and instead of tacky or hateful things I get a lot of 'well if you wanted my opinion I suppose you'd ask' type comments from her. She's also gotten really good at reading my body language, and if I raise my eyebrow at her and grit my teeth, she knows it's about to become unpleasant and she usually just evacuates the immediate area. What irritates me is everyone else can sense the unpleasant dynamics as well, and I feel badly for making them all feel like they have to walk on egg shells. It's fortunate we all only get together about once a decade, and it's gone better than I expected this year.

Nope she will never change and I accepted that a long time ago. My response to that is to spend no time with her. However both my sisters actually like to see her, despite that they also know how she is, so for the sake of family I tolerate her more than I'd choose to otherwise. I could happily not see or speak to her again for the remainder of her life, I don't do that out of respect to my grandfather's memory and for the sake of my sisters.

Cankles is derived from calf + ankles, so the term for wrists would be some form of arm + wrist. So wrarms or arists probably, though it doesn't have the same ring to it as cankles.
