Is sounding "white" a turn off?

    That's funny. I don't think either one of us sound one way or the other. To me you sound like IB & I'm sure I just sound like Tammy to you. I've heard the sounding/acting black thing about myself more from white folks than anyone else...especially from my family...I think it's silly.

    He definitely sounds Black and country, and his mother told him he sounds "White", so I can see why he said that....

    We sound the way we do. If they don't like it, they don't have to talk to us....

    As hard as it is to belive, Mr. Ra, some people are interested in more than just getting "broke off proper". Just getting some is easy, but if you are looking for quality sex in the right circumstance (i.e. in a relationship), it's not easy at all.

    It means sounding college educated and the mention of sounding white has strong identity undertones.

    This comes with accent that has traces of middle class upbringing. I guess it is a form of social, cultural and political identification in a society, or do as say country that has been socialized and constructed along racial and social categories.

    It is akin to sounding 'properly' British in Ghana without the traces of your ethnic origin, more like a polished Ghanaian that speaks English like he schooled in Britain.

    I guess that is the beauty of struggle of classes and races in American society.
