No feathers ruffled here. I was just curious as to whether you were speaking specifically or generally.
You captured heart of my post perfectly. Yes, I am poetic in my expressions. I am grateful that you accept my renderings with kindness. With tears in my eyes...I truly thank you.:smt055
Im personally not offended, I could give two shits... Threads like this set the stage for nothing but romanticizing/fetishist sounding bs to pop up anyway. The person who made this thread threw race in where it didnt need to be put in... We can all agree that people are people, some are good, some are bad, some are ugly, some are attractive, etc etc. So, what else would there be left to talk about if we all agree that people are people, other than our physical differences, such as skin color etc. When people get into the whole I love black men because of their ______ skin and stuff you can unintentionally come off as a person trying objectify/hypersexualize black men (the same can be said when its done for white women). Theres hella trolls on here, so people can be on the fence about a poster until the poster starts regulary posting (and even then folks are still on the fence). I personally feel like you were trying to write something more on a poetic level explaining why you like black men etc, but at the same time I can understand why others might think you might be a fetishist.
I like to express myself in a poetic nature as well. If you direct yourself to the Creative Writing and Poetry section of the forum, you'll see some of my poems. I tried to make them as enticing as possible, but...so few would give them a read. Besides, poetry is what brings out a melody of emotion as it courses through your veins and engulfs your very existence into perpetual light.
Yeah, lol.... The guy in my avi was using that banana helmet for protection in the Egypt protest lol.
I never said you had to be shallow sweetheart. Your post came off creepy as a general dipiction of all bm. Contrary to popular belief a lot of us aren't fond of being stereotyped whether its positive or negative because we aren't monolithic characters.
No...you misread me. I never said all men were deserving of such praise, so there is no need for you to reassure me of that. But to the black men who are deserving of such praise, they rarely ever get it from us or the media. I wanted to say something different. Moreover, I also want to correct you concerning the statement you made..."You refer to everyone else's responses as lacking depth and then defend yours." I never said "everyone elses"...I said numberous. Numberous means many...not all. You were already perturbed about what I posted concerning the black men I know in general, but when I described the numberous posts on this thread as being shallow, you blew up...you took it personally...I wonder why? I simply know them beyond just the physical and chose to write on that. Let's just be friends...okay?
No numerous means many I don't know what numberous means. Anyone got a dictionary for this poor soul.
When you read some poems, some individuals would write something and people interpret it as on a general state, as opposed to the author directly responding to those whose reading it or to specific people. I don't see it as dramatic. I seriously think some people get too caught up with the whole thing, especially when the name of this site is dedicated to the very thing we're advocating. If that wasn't the case, then such sites wouldn't exist in the first place. In essence, I guess if you call one person someone with a fetish, then perhaps we're all guilty of that to an extent. Physical appearance is what we see and from there, the individual himself or herself.
I've seen you spell sensitive correctly once, maybe twice, on this board. I think you should not be discussing someone's spelling errors. Just saying. :smt023
You don't have to be much of a poet to enjoy poetry. It really has an enlightening affect on one's soul when read without prejudgment or suspicion.
I was talking about her line where she shows gratitdue with a tear in here eye. This ain't broadway fam.
Exactly. I've heard a lotta things said about BM in general on the board and I didn't have a problem with what she said either. Why is it even a big deal???
And there's no criteria for "HOW?" to express your reasoning, either. This is a forum and people can write in "l33t sp33k", poetic/romantic, or even the e.e. cummings route. As long as the basic message has been delivered, and there's no harm in it, then it's perfectly fine.
Thanks for the invitation. I am a newbie as of today. I am glad they have a poetry section there. I know I'm going to love your poetry because of this very statement you made... " poetry is what brings out a melody of emotion as it courses through your veins and engulfs your very existence into perpetual light"
I'm glad you did. Just try and enjoy your time here. We're all fun-loving people with a need to entertain one another and vent.
I didn't blow up. If I had, you'd have known it. I'm a little annoyed, but that's about it. I also didn't take it personally- I just found it disingenuous- like you were trying too hard.... and then you say let's be friends after a thinly veiled accusation of my character. So which is it? You're all energized now because some guys here appreciate your lame attempt to be Elizabeth Barrett Browning? OK, so be it. I'm done. Commence with the pandering. Some of these guys seem to get off on it.
