That's some pretty solid Russki, BigBrotherWise. Well said. If she's Russian in Egypt, I hope she can read the Cyrillic as well, LOL. Daria, allow me to echo BigBrother's welcome. Welcome to the site.
???????, ??????! I've been practicing on and off and now getting back in earnest. So, this should help me a bit. And yeah...she's Russian and in Egypt, so I would assume her first language would be Russian.
It's "pozhaluista" There's a "j" or "zh" sound in there when translating...??????????. But yeah...it is a pain in the ass even with a shortcut. But luckily I have it visible and I can instant switch whatever language I'd want to write it in.
Thanks for the tip. When typing in Latin script, I just kind of vaguely approximate what the sound of the word is like, but it would be cool to have some sort of standardized lexicon to refer to, like the one they utilize with Mandarin. I wish our professor had taught that in class, lol.
I took three years of Mandarin as well and I see what you mean. But it all depends on the teacher mainly. Some of them would just brush through the material as though they can't explain it well. But the best method I tried when pronouncing certain words is to try and say it slowly and apply it there. But the biggest bitch of all would be when you have to use the following: ?, ?, ? I'm still having issues with them. Although the last letter sort of works in conjunction with the general alphabet. The other two...still have issues.
It's actually one letter and it has a "y" sound to it. Although ? can be considered for pronunciation, but that letter sounds more a stressed "e" (i.e. feet) while ? sounds more like a y, like rhythm. Example: ??, ??, ???
Yeah, in class we always said it was pronounced like the "ui" sound and reserved the 'I' or 'Y' sound for "?". Cool, I was able to type Cyrillic on the cheap by cutting and pasting your words, lol.
I'll look in my old textbooks, assuming they aren't so old and tattered that they crumble into orange dust when I open them!
Hahahah, sucks that I didn't learn it from a university. I was going to, but the budgets caused the program to close, which included Russian. So, I learned a good bit of it on my own. And actually, it helps to join Vkontakte. It's a Russian version of Facebook and not regulated.
Thanks for the tip. I've never heard of Vkontakte. You learned on your own? Damn, BBWise, that was impressive. You might have a predilection for languages.
I'm still learning, but I'm pretty adept to varied languages if I'm motivated to learn them. And if I can get the basics, I can further expand on them. I'm planning on visiting those areas soon anyway...mainly Russia and Belarus and Ukraine.
thanks for the warm welcome sure I could help you out with Russian! but why would you even try to learn it??? ???????, ? ???? ?????? ??-??????. ?? ????????? ?? ??????? ??????? ??????? ??????? ??????? ?? ????? ?? ? ??????? ? ?????? ????? ???????? ???? ? ?????????? ??? ?? ?????? ????? ???????? :smt086 To Ymra: thats all the questions? haha do u need my boobs size as well?
