Just curious... I look around and see all of the white people (especially college girls/guys), old people, and even regular middle aged people like me haha.... that totally look identical... also those famous people, like the few in this little blog... it's scary!! http://www.absolutelyfobulous.com/2011/02/15/fob-revelation-not-all-white-people-look-the-same/ and this time honored jpg... and of course all of the "pretty people" which are mostly depicted as white people, for some stupid reason I will never understand, since I adore dark skin... and I hate to hate on my dark-haired white sisters, but they do look an awful lot alike... So the question is.... do you - think they look alike, that is? My white sisters and black brothers... do you think a lot of white people look the same??? In the same way that a lot of black people look "the same" (or Asian people for that matter)??? I'm talking in the way that a lot of black people are falsely convicted for committing crimes, etc. Please explain. Does it have to do with hair color, eye color, or something else? I know that black people are less likely to have blue/green eyes or blonde/red hair, etc., but as we have seen, there are ways to confuse everyone... So why this confusion? Personally I don't think Natashja Kinski looks anything like Emma Thompson, but that's just me. Is it a white thing, or do black people think they look identical and why? This is just an experiment.
Why don't white people look the same, and why don't you care? What about when white people say that black people look the same?
Why don't they?......because they just don't. I guess if you're just looking at skin color and hair color and no other physical feature then yes, but who really takes just those two things into consideration? A few pictures ain't gonna prove anything. Don't know about you, but I have no trouble telling white people I know apart. Maybe if you don't know them, you don't take that time to know their features. But at the same time, I walked by a bunch of white people today I didn't know and they looked pretty different from each other. Same thing applies for everyone else I see. And what about people who say all blacks look alike? They're either trying to be funny or they are dumbasses. Funny that this was a serious question.
I'm not a troll and you know it quite well. Just because I don't kiss your ass or offer platitudes doesn't mean I'm not legit.
It's a serious question because a LOT of black people have been convicted of crimes that they did not commit simply from the fact that they matched the description of someone, and someone who only sees "color" would not look at the actual FACE of the person to identify that person. Very few black people are actually born with red hair or blondish/brownish hair or have it colored that way - some do. Anyway, the justice system, and the racial prejudice in this society will have some people blinded and have them saying "I saw a black man with dark skin and brown eyes and black hair and black/brown eyes and he looked like "this"." ... when that may or may not have been the truth - because they were jaded by their racism. Also, when white people don't have things to go by like color of hair and eyes, they get a little stupid, I think. Just my opinion. For me, I have brown hair and brown eyes. I am white, but I would fit in with anyone - people class me with Italian, Greek, black, Jewish, Irish, Scottish, you name it. One thing I have never been confused for, and that is for anyone else than myself - thank God.
You have some people of any race or ethnicity who might resemble someone, but no one set race of people look alike. Some people have similar features, hair coloring, the same height or weight class or they might even dress, talk or act like someone, but NO, White people don't all look alike. They say everyone has a twin, but not a whole race of them.
Famous people(those famous for things that require good looks anyway) are likely to look similar/the same to some extent because there are certain traits, features, etc. that are considered visually appealing to everyone, so if you want to know if people think all x look y, you need to ask them to look at people they see in real life, not celebrities. Topic reminds me of this
That changes it from being a simple confusion to intentionally trying to wrong a black person. I'm sure many of the innocent black men in jail were put there not because we might look alike, but because whoever person just wanted some black person in jail. The police, or whoever else, don't want to put in the work to dig deeper and find more than a general description. When you give something general like "Black male, early 20s, blue jeans, white tee, beard", that can be anybody, but if you put them next another man similar to that description and look at them long enough, a person will be able to tell the subtle(or great) differences. So at the end of the day, it's more of people being far less observant than they should be or just plain racist than just confusing someone with someone else. Almost completely sure, a person who wants to point out someone who is attractive will have little trouble pointing out that person again if they happen to cross paths soon enough. Not sure if I'm making as much sense as I am trying to make, but yeah...
Good post, BA (I missed you) So true. Aside from race, most often, people misidentify the wrong person when it comes to identifying a criminal.
I missed you both...(I didn't recognize T-bear at first, until I saw the reps...lol) I've been going through some things, so I haven't been in the mood to post, but I'm still here....
Just want y'all to know , I am trying to get the alternate opinion from all views of the world, what you all thought about white people in general, if they looked a lot alike or not, in comparison with black people, etc. I didn't think there was anything wrong with asking this opinion.
Interesting thread, Saint. I remember reading on a gossip or news site that a woman that looked similar to Amanda Knox was mistaken for actually being Amanda Knox and faced criticism and ridicule. Another guy on this forum mentioned that his friend looked like a "mini Barack Obama" or something like that. This thing that you are talking about exists, I don't think it's huge or significant in number though.
So you're saying "no?" and why is that? Of course I know why I just want to hear other people say it.
