Yeah i really don't understand that either. Someone gets cancer that God gave them on purpose and they pray that it changes it's mind and removes it. Makes no sense at all.

God wants for us to have faith in much of what are earthly eyes cannot see. we are to believe in his words, it is about faith. i pray so that i may speak to God. i pray for those unable to fight the battles that confront them. i pray so that we of whom are responsible can help those of us that are not. i pray so that real love, and caring will be thought of first before the castigation of one or many of whom cannot speak as well. i pray for each of those here so that the impediments to their lives can be removed, and replaced with deeper, and more love to share. i pray to learn more about that of which i have not learned. i pray for hungry ones to be nourished, seen, and cared of. i pray for you, alexis

I pray when I feel that it is time to pray..........when I am afraid, when I have sorrows or just to thank God for my life and my wonderful family. Sometime when I just go to church and on a candle and pray a little bit .....I just feel better. What I do not like is to pray when people are arround. Praying is a personal and private thing. I need peace for that.
as my faith in Jesus Christ is a personal relationship not a religion experience, talking to God daily helps to build my relationship more with HIM its communication between my Lord and myself-It only works if you have a personal relatonship, as a believer and follower. and its not a slot machine sort of thing, you dont get material things just by praying. its as a form of worship, thanks, praise, askings, telling, sharing, repening, sharing the burdens and concerns of others--placing yourself humbly before my Lord. Its worked for me for 35 years, cant speak for others

There are differences, and acknowledging which of these you are talking about leads to a more sensible discussion...as much as you can with religion based topics. The essence of what you are saying is: Your beliefs are fallacious You are engaging in illogical behavior based on these false beliefs Do you pray for one of these two reasons, or "some other reason"...which is just a phrase to feign objectivity. This is an obvious attempt to inflame, not to start an intelligent discourse. In addition, an honest researcher, or scientist will do their best to disprove themselves before going public with strong assertions often asking peers, and opposition to do their best to disprove their theories. I have a feeling that you have put little, or no effort into looking into counter-evidence. Until the time that you do this you cannot make claims in the name of objective science, neither can your opposition to be fair. It would be best if you don't use one study, and a few scriptures to imply that what your say is on the level of scientific law. I'm pretty sure that you are neither a religious scholar, or a medical expert by any reasonable measure.
