Yeah, I seen this before. Japanese(some) tanning to look more black. That girl looks just like a sista. Her mom is mad cool too.LOL I love when people from other cultures take a liking too the Black American culture. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
Hmmm.....they seem to be walking a thin line between, respect for the culture and having a fetish for it.
told everyone here before about the Japanese guy I lived with back at PSU. This guy was very receptive towards me, hip hop and other stuff generally associated with African Americans. He was this way for the years I've known him. Other people I know said the same thing about some Japanese people they've met as well. It's nice to see the impact we have worldwide you know. It's a step back from what you generally see dominating.
The only thing about that is when you bump into folks exposed to "hip-hop" music from a distance, when they come across you as a black person they expect you to act like the next "50 or Trey Songz" because they assume that is what you must be like, i.e. stereotype. So you wonder are they interested in the black person or based on what they assume you are supposed to be like culturally, just by being black. As someone mentioned i.e. could kind of border on fetishistic. For example if I want a bubbly, airhead, big tittied, short shorts, valley, blonde white girl and come to find out she is a wigger and I just say fuck that I'm out, not interested without even giving her a chance.
lol the japanese guy i knew didnt overtly act or dress black..he was just a fan of certain aspects. he wasnt trying too hard to fit in....i dont wear my pants down or shit like that, so he wouldnt gain points with me by doing so lol
Yeah, I know what you mean. It's strange because I always heard of Japanese women bleaching their skin, trying to look more fair-skinned. It's a little weird either way. I'm with paniro187, I would rather they be themselves. This is a interesting topic because I like Asian women.
yeah but dont fool yourselves. when it comes to putting blacks in a positive image then they will hold up on that. see what george lucas said about his new movie red tails...then we can talk. its the last segment of the show
I like to know if those Japanese lovers of Black culture hang with the childeren of Black US Soldiers, sailors etc?
here is the show Im talking about. hit the last segment http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/mon-january-9-2012-george-lucas
My take on this has always been that the attraction seems to be (and I said "seems", so I'm not saying I'm any kind of authority on the topic) driven by a fascination with many of the aspects of African-American culture that are most dysfunctional. I wonder if this includes a fascination with the Harlem Renaissance, Chinua Achebe and the history of the African Diaspora, or if it's just limited to thugged-out, gat-blasting, ho-slapping, video sensationalizing. Everyone has a right to like whatever they like, though.
