I was very interested in that too, believe it or not but you know...still working 2nd shift and that means I can't be around for the prime hours of 5-9 for most martial art schools I priced the Bogu and everything (pretty costly, but if it's something you enjoy, cost is negligible) like i said before, im more interested in the sport aspects and other stuff when it comes to training like that i leave the street fighting to smith and wesson, lol
You live in Philly you gonna need it I think you'll be fine martial arts wise but you might want to look into less harsh sports and focus on some passive techniqued oriented arts like Aikido(its required with the kendo)
thought about that as well even posted up the link to the school dowtown with the black sensei..not that color matters :smt111 passive or not, Ukemi still takes a toll lol break-fall warmups and judo drives that message home clearly
Judo has been the most physically demanding endeavor I've ever partaken. A punch and a kick got nothing on a hard throw and you use every single damn muscle.
just wished that guy actually went over the proper distribution of impact along the body's surface beforehand think i mentioned this before, but the first time i got tossed, he said i could have been knocked out:? you're taught to tuck in your head to prevent injuries when you fall down in football, and that was the only natural thing i had going for me. Other than that, i was done for. And this guy's supposed to be a certified US National team Judo Coach. but you know, after a while you catch on and proper ukemi becomes second nature. you're average person on the street knows zip about that, and that's what makes Judo or any other grappling art effective... again..provided guns and knives arent involved :smt109
Admit mistakes. Don't ever be your own worst critic though. There are always plenty of people willing to do that for you.
Big ups for that one. Your dreams and visions are important. Shoot for the stars because if the arrow doesn't hit the star that you aimed for it still will land in a high place. Dreams and visions are the gasoline you need to fuel your inner engine with. The minute you lose them, your engine stops working and a part of you dies. I promise you that you will live to regret it. What I just said may sound like it came out of a fairytale somewhere but it's actually true.
Kind of like what Ellena Roosevelt said" Do the thing that pleases you and not others because people don't need a reason to hate you"
What the fucks a Ellena Roosevelt? "You wouldn't worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom they do." — Eleanor Roosevelt
I don't knw if you're kidding but you are so right. If and when things get bad its far more important to be able to stand on your own two than anything else. Don't worry about saving anyone else make sure you're good first because in times of extreme chaos mofos are crazy.
My mother in her Christian way always tells me to wait on the Lord and he will guide my path. But then I counter with the question about one making the first step and God making two. The church I worked for did a lot of charity. Everyone came in droves. But when the church needed help, not a lot of these folks were around.
