At what point did I say race was limited to skin color? The importance of African American ethnicity and White American ethnicity has absolutely NOTHING to do with race or color. It has everything to do with culture and heritage. Mixed race children are carry the ethnicity of both. Hell for that matter all Americans have to assimilate to the mainstream culture of white Americans. Why am I not shocked at all for you to say you think black is superior race. SMDH. Yall remember me saying that on another post today Do you not understand that with no mixing at all it will ALSO be diluted and something completely different. okay so normally i just dont jump into peoples arguements but this thread just has me shaking my head at every comment jenlove makes jen race does not exist biologically speaking. race is a cultural construct. thats why in south america depending what time of the year it is, peoples 'race' changes all the time. thats why in old census documents you could have families that have children listed as "white, black, or mulatto" and all of them have the same parents (i know trust me im seeing that now in my african american archaeology class) you also said that white people are not fully humans....... that we are mixed with neanderthal blood (we mated with them). this is one theory, the other is that the neanderthal evolved into us. either way ur argument that we are not fully human is....silly where did neanderthals come from? africa. humans are all one species (otherwise we would not be able to produce fertile offspring together). "race" is just another phenotype that can be expressed through our genes, just like eye color, hair color, etc. also to have this fear of a loss of african culture...... african-americans did not lose their culture when they traveled through the middle passage here, in fact african-american culture as seen in the archaeological record was held on to even more dearly. even though they had to modify to what resources were available. besides any anthropologist will tell you that culture isnt static, anywhere. if it were, then the whole human race would be stuck in paleolithic times. the whole human race would not have existed. our futures depend on change. it is important to recognize features of different societies, and that is why ethnographies are always being done. but to fear mixing.....that does not sound progressive..... it is those sort of thoughts that influenced some of the biggest hate crimes and atrocities known to mankind. to seperate humans and fear mixing, shows that you view some humans as subspecies or second class, not equal. to say we shouldnt "mix" is to intrude yourself into our personal lives into our right to choose who to love .......i could go on and on on this rant.....and i hate arguing......
