Trayvon Martin's Murder

Oh I definitely agree. But in America, even when you're the victim, if you're Black then you better be the perfect victim. Because people will bend over backwards to find some justification for why you wound up dead and should be forgotten about.

And it's not like Zimmerman didn't have people bending over backwards from the start to justify why he should be let off the hook, regardless of the situation or evidence. Unfortunately even people like that wind up on juries.

So obvious to you and me, but many others in this country? Not so much. I think the more info that comes out the better but I really wish this trial would get started.

win or lose, i still think questions need to be asked and heads need to roll

it shouldnt have taken so much effort from people disgusted over the system, to bring this shit to trial

if it wasnt for the media and the internet, GZ would still be walking around town, trying to find more negroes to bang with his gat

And think how many injustices like this probably go on in the country, that don't have the benefit of national media coverage.

they were going to riot..esp if he didnt go to trial

bullshit nothin

I still hope there is national outrage if he walks. People had to stand up to bring him to justice yes, but justice is still aborted if he remains unconvicted of the crime he committed.

The reason behind why he did it is still important. Not so important that he would be found innocent because of a racist jury who believes all black men are thug life fo' life.

I hope so too, but without injuries, attacks or deaths on people.

Anyone think Zimmerman is gonna get off easy?

I haven't taken a side really although I do think this Zimmerman guy is a sleazebag(I'm trying the "wait and see" approach) but its not looking good for Trayvon supporters imo. The latest witness saying that Martin was throwing "MMA style blows" to Zimmerman's head isn't gonna help.

c'mon son you know this case is bullshit from the moment the police advised GZ to stand down

but no..armed and medicated on some good shit, he decided to follow the black guy anyway, on some racial profiling shit

dont even mention the fact that he WOULDNT EVEN BE AT A TRIAL, if it wasn't for the outrage of millions of americans

what happened to the justice system and why couldn't theyve done their jobs...a man killed someone, and they let him walk scott free without holding him until everything was properly investigated?

they took him at his word and left Trayvon's body in the morgue for three days, on some ole southern-justice style

[/SIZE]

EXACTLY!

shits been going on for centuries....

why stop now?

perfect victim still cant get justice. 68 year old killed by cops after hitting his medical alert

he should have been charged with manslaughter not murder two....it would have been a slam dunk with manslaughter

I'm thinking it's likely the prosecutor has evidence that wasn't made public. Honestly the fact that he knowingly pursued this kid with a loaded gun and it's corroborated by the 911 call he made, opens up the possibility of murder 2.

Manslaughter is defined as :The unjustifiable, inexcusable, and intentional killing of a human being without deliberation, premeditation, and malice. The unlawful killing of a human being without any deliberation, which may be involuntary, in the commission of a lawful act without due caution and circumspection.

Now granted different judiciaries in different states are going to look at crimes differently. Did I say different enough? :smt108

Hard to get a lock on the murder two definition, especially since I'm sure it varies by state, but the fact that he had the gun, was pursing Trayvon, and said something to the effect of "These <insert whatever you think> always get away", and was told that he didn't need to follow Martin by the 911 dispatcher, as well as the statement by his girlfriend at the time that Zimmerman initiated the confrontation, I don't think the murder 2 charge was necessarily over the line or a stretch.

Whether he's convicted though is another matter entirely. This is Florida after all. And if OJ and Casey Anthony can get off, surely Zimmerman can.

Angela Corey, prosecutor in Trayvon case, is tough on crime

..
......Angela Corey, 57, is a Republican and was elected in 2008. She serves in Florida's Fourth Judicial Circuit Court, which is made up of three right-leaning counties in northeast Florida.

She is widely known as one of her state's most passionate and aggressive prosecutors.

During Corey’s three year tenure, the population in Jacksonville's Duval County jail has risen, despite a drop in crime in the city and an overall drop in prison populations around the state, according to a study of her record by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

"The single most important factor as to why the jail is so full in Duval County is prosecutorial style -- Angela Corey's aggressive style as prosecutor," Michael Hallett, the chairman of criminology and criminal justice at the school who led the study, told Reuters
.

"Compared to her predecessor, she is much more aggressive in terms of filing criminal charges, much less likely to dismiss charges... She prosecutes every potential charge to the hilt," Hallett added.

Corey grew up in Jacksonville and went to Florida State before getting her law degree at University of Florida.

Before the Martin case, she was best known for seeking a first-degree murder indictment against Cristian Fernandez, a 12-year-old accused of killing his 2-year-old brother by smashing his head into a bookshelf.

Fernandez, now 13, is the youngest person ever to be charged with murder as an adult in Florida and could get life in prison.

Critics attack Corey for lacking compassion. Corey said the charge was a reflection of the brutal murder.

"I have compassion for Cristian Fernandez, but it's not my job to forgive," Corey told reporters at the time. "It's my job to follow the law."

Corey's decision...was likely not a surprise to those familiar with her work.

She has a record of avoiding grand juries, and last month, she told the Miami Herald her office would probably proceed on its own.

Both the Zimmerman and Martin camps have said the decision favors their case.

..."She definitely wants to see justice done," Jacksonville defense lawyer Mitchell Stone told Reuters. "She has a lot of compassion for the victims of crime, but she knows when a case is not going to be able to be prosecuted.”

no doubt on it all.

The eyewitness testimonies at this point are going to amount to nothing. Every time one of them changes their story, the less credible they become...it's going to come down to other type of circumstantial evidence to even approach a second degree murder indictment.

Yeah but is the media portraying facts being clarified as "changing their story"?? We all know the media has had a field day with skewing this case. I won't trust anything til it's in a courtroom where everyone is sworn to tell the real truth.

I'm just reading the reports of some saying Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman and vice versa, that Zimmerman shot him at point black range and that Trayvon was running away when Zimmerman shot him....and curiously the witness that concluded that she "felt" Zimmerman wanted to kill Trayvon, even though she admits what she saw was two bodies flailing around in the dark.

These people are all over the place in describing what they saw.

Zimmerman complained about Sanford police in 2011

RLANDO, Fla. (AP) — George Zimmerman accused the Sanford police department of corruption more than a year before he shot Trayvon Martin, saying at a public forum the agency covered up the beating of a black homeless man by the son of a white officer.
"I would just like to state that the law is written in black and white," Zimmerman said during a 90-second statement to city commissioners at a community forum. "It should not and cannot be enforced in the gray for those who are in the thin blue line."
The forum took place on Jan. 8, 2011, days after a video of the beating went viral on the Internet and then-Sanford Police Chief Brian Tooley was forced to retire. Tooley's department faced criticism for dragging its feet in arresting Justin Collison, the son of a police lieutenant.
"I'd like to know what action the commission is taking in order to repeal Mr. Tooley's pension," Zimmerman said to the commission. "I'm not asking you to repeal his pension; I believe he's already forfeited his pension by his illegal cover-up in corruption in what happened in his department."
Zimmerman's public comments could be important because the Martin family and supporters contend the neighborhood watch volunteer singled Martin out because he was black. Zimmerman has a Peruvian mother and a white father. His supporters have said he is not racist.
The Miami Herald first reported details from the January 2011 community forum Wednesday. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the tape from the meeting.
In the speech, Zimmerman said he witnessed "disgusting" behavior by officers when he was part of a ride-along program, though the agency said it did not know when, if ever, Zimmerman was in that program.
"The officer showed me his favorite hiding spots for taking naps. He explained to me he doesn't carry a long gun in his vehicle because in his words, 'Anything that requires a long gun requires a lot of paperwork and you're gonna find me as far away from it.'"
Zimmerman also said the officer in question "took two lunch breaks and attended a going away party for one of his fellow officers."
Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett and interim police chief Richard Myers were both unavailable for comment.
Zimmerman is free on bond awaiting his second-degree murder trial for shooting Martin. Martin was walking back to a townhome he was staying at when he got into a fight with Zimmerman, who shot him in the chest at close range.
Zimmerman, who claims the Feb. 26 shooting was self-defense, was initially not arrested. But after protests around the country and an investigation by a state prosecutor, he was charged.
Tooley's successor, Bill Lee, temporarily resigned his post following a no-confidence vote by city commissioners.
Lee offered to resign permanently, but his commissioners turned down his request. He is on paid leave.

he also changed his tune in sept . this dude is bipolar. he also did ride alongs with the pigs. now this kid wanted to be a dirty harry. one witness stated "he was breating hard....seemed he got his ass whipped"

Zimmerman IMO has borderline personality disorder. I really believe he's on the verge of needing a competent psychiatrist.
