I have done quite a bit of online dating the last year on another site that I was very happy with. What I enjoyed about it was that it was a fully functional free site that wasn't lame and was quite sophisticated. It also worked for me because I am the kind of man who puts my cards on the table and stated up front that I am interested in interracial dating. You won't have to worry about the people who do not share that interest, and, in some cases, I was surprised that a few women, who I did not think would be interested in dating a black man, were, in fact, open to it.

I actually dabble in consulting as a side business. For a woman like yourself who dates black men I'd suggest a combo of free and paid sites. I actually heard decent things about wwbm personals but I'd also suggest chemistry.com and okcupid(personal favorite, its how I met my current gf) but go in with very low expectations, look at it as a way to have some fun and meet new people.

Just noticed you're from TN. Nashville is a good dating spot so is Chantooga (sorry if I butchered that). A lot of people and they seem really friendly. At least in comparison to NY lol

I live in Murfreesboro, near Nashville..and Im not too far from Chattanooga either. The problems I run into: (just get a consult bill ready)
are: I cannot date anyone's immediate family or close friends for two years, at a community health center there are tons of people who either come to counseling, are court ordered for counseling etc. This is my job and I don't want any of those people in my personal life for obvious reasons. If they have ever been in any form of family counseling it is 5. Also, I am not always loved because I get called into court often for the people that I do counsel and asked what I think about their cases etc..part of the job.
I live in the south, people get married at 18, okay seriously younger than the rest of the country, and by 30 are parents to teenagers and settled in.
Many people know my husband that passed away, he is from here, so they just assume that I am not ready to date, even though He passed in Feb 2010. In all fairness, I am just ready now, I didn't take my wedding ring off until the beginning of this month. He also was fairly well known state wide.
Then there are the normal factors like mutual attraction...and I tend to be too honest.

Real talk I understand that privacy is a big issue for you, its a big deal for everyone. I can't tell you how many people from work and hs that I use to see on sites like POF or Okcupid, it was down right hilarious especially considering all their weird ass criteria so you are far from being alone. I've checked as far as Independence, MO for clients and what you're saying is true as far as people being married young in places like the south and midwest but there are plenty of people who are just getting out of relationships ready to date again especially at your age. You're only 30.
Give me a list of five must haves you want in a new dating buddy.

4. I prefer goal oriented, straight forward men, I'm too old for mind games. Major plus if they have a college degree.
5. I love men who can carry a conversation and loves all types of music. My guilty pleasures are concerts, playing music, and listening to all genres except country music.

Really? You're on OKC? I used to write on there all of the time (journals) - for years. I hope it's still there - I haven't logged in, in forever, as most of my friends have left - it's been about 5 years now.
Afraid to go back on plentyoffish.com as it is mostly a meat market, and I am also afraid that Muslim guy #2 (asshole) will see me and think I'm trolling for new meat. I don't want him to have any kind of information about me. Wondering - can I block him from seeing my profile? Haven't checked in in MONTHS. Probably might find someone else nice - especially if I rewrite my profile to seem less sarcastic and change my preferences to "other ethnicities only".... I hate getting messages from drunken hillbilly truckers or goatee-wearing beer-bellied divorcees.

I have been on OKC for about a year and have had mostly positive experiences. POF is more problematic, and I don't recommend it. There are a few IR sites out there, but unless you pay, you won't get much. That is one reason I came back to an IR forum. The best way for me to meet someone is to come to a place like this, make friends, let people get to know me, and let an attraction happen more or less organically.

Not a bad strategy. A few members have carried on personal relationships. OKC in my opinion has a smaller amount of hot women but a lot more women who are long term material. POF has a higher volume of hot women frequenting the site but it is a bit of a meat market and has far less educated people which is a deal breaker for me. I find that women who haven't gone to college have little to nothing in common with me so there's really no point
