Dude, GI Joe wasn't that deep. He was arrested, not for his race, but for trespassing on the White house and the destruction of French property. Not to mention that his arrests: 1. Didn't make his character negative 2. It was played down at the end 3. Wasn't a stereotype since he DID save Washington, (Jack Bauer got arrested/was a fugitive plenty of times on 24 while saving lives) 4. And most importantly on this board, he still got the girl. It didn't affect their relationship. But I understand where you are coming from about subliminal messaging in Hollywood, but this wasn't the movie to make your point. If they were broken up BECAUSE of it, then yeah you have a point but they weren't. Ripcord was the standard Hollywood formula of the black man sidekick/cometic character next to the serious gun-ho white main character.
