Did a seminar today with Ben "Badger" Jones. Catch Wrestling. He has some really cool submission holds. Gotta go easy or you snap peoples joints and stuff. Better tap-out quick We were working on kimuras/leg locks/chicken wings. The pic was like the vid below but w an added lesson where you get your legs up at the opponents head and you finally lock the arm down between your legs (in a figure 4), there is no way to get out of that (unless u snap your elbow). Badger is from a gym a few blocks from ours and a lot of their fighters work out in our gym so we get to do a lot of seminars w them. Its amaaazing to watch. Here is an extremely unflattering pic of me trying to get a toe hold while somebody is inflicting pain. Geez. Nice bruises on my arm there. LOL. Not sure why it looks like I have hairy arms and double chins. LOL. I dont so shuddup. I just think the pic is funny.
My heart rate dropped way the hell down from boxing thus far! I'm going to start grappling a bit as well though. Nursing my hands now because I've been hitting the heavy bag too much. Need to go back to the pads for a while. There's a clinic I might go to that will be done by Rick Franklin in a few weeks I'm strongly interested in going to so I'm more than likely doing that.
I recently bought some Thai Boxing gloves by Twins. Pretty bad ass. More evenly distributed padding across the glove for blocking kicks and knees as well as punches. I need some new boxing gloves so when I just do sparring boxing specific too, and some bag gloves since mine are wore out.
Ordered some Thai Gloves. Waiting on my MMA shorts. I will probably start doing more grappling soon, but last month I slacked off a lot with training so I need to get back up to speed in that regard first.
So, my NCO and sensei just convinced me to sign up for a tournament next week. Kumite. What the fuck was I thinking?
cool stuff. Well from experience I can tell you kumites are fucking tough. How many men do you have to fight?
tournaments usually are tougher because people like winning stuff u always hear about questionable hits, illegal contact...stuff that usually doesn't happen when ur training with friends
oh yeah. I've only done it for belt promotions so everyone is essentially trying to help you I can imagine competitions are much more hectic. The kumites are crazy in Japan. A lot of their tournaments are 100 men fighting competitions. You fight 100 men 2 minutes each without a rest. Mas Oyama and I think two other people were the only ones to do that
