Hello all! Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. First things first... Yes, I am an AA woman. Born and raised in Los Angeles (in a predominantly Creole neighborhood) in a family that is no stranger to mixed race love/families/relationships/children. I stumbled across this site a few months ago and decided to see what types of dialogs are happening here. I was a bit hesitant to join because, obviously, the site really was not created for people like me. But the reason that I did decide to join is because I felt that I could lend a different yet beneficial perspective and dynamic to some of the discussions on the board. Most people associate the name Apollonia with Prince's protégé, former lover and lead of the group Apollonia 6. Apollonia is also the name of the Sicilian girl with whom the character Michael Corleone (from the film The Godfather) falls in love. But my namesake is for Saint Apollonia, a martyr in early Christendom, who is my patron saint.
