One of the top searches on google is "why do black people add "ja" to their names.... I wonder how many people threw out her resume.... Tishia Baker - Hotel Executive
I have seen a few mixed kids -usually mom white/German and dad black American soldier- with such names. A female I know named her son Detwan Leporio ,which she made up herself. Personally it wouldn't be my cup of tea to name possible future kids that way,but to each their own.
There's an actress who goes by the name of Imogen Poots and she looks like this... And yet, for some reason, when you listen to her name, it sounds like a mummified fart. Weird fucking name, both first and last.
The problems with those names is it can prevent a person from getting a good job. It it is not familiar the strange name would be at its crosshairs.
I don't know if I've mentioned this before but when I was in the Hospital with my last child, the parents in the next bed had just gone home with their son called Milo and the nurses came round to get the bed ready for the next patient. Anyway they had a looksie at my baby and asked me what we'd named her, I said Sascha she said "we haven't had a Sascha in a while" I said "I bet you've never had a Milo before" lol "Unfortunately we have" "We also had a young Mum a few weeks ago, name her poor baby Clamydia (dropping the H)" Now whether they were kidding around with me, I'm not sure, they didn't sound like they were as I was the only one laughing. Poor little baby, not a great start in life.
I don't have a problem with creativity, as long as the name that is chosen is an actual word or name. Go ahead, explore other cultural traditions, meanings, etc, but a name should be more than just a random collection of syllables that are pleasing to the ear. Good grief. What next?
I come across "creative" names on a daily basis at work. I really wish that some of these parents would curtail their creative instincts and give their kids names that won't stigmatize them later on in life.
Notice how its ghetto when blacks do it but when stars name their kids pilot inspector its artsy and eccentric
