In Australia and UK they say "cunt" every other word, women and men. In America it has achieved no-go status

 

i m definetly closer to the UK then the states, still i d be offended if someone called me a cunt.

 

I wouldn't blame you if someone called you that directly, but in the US the word ITSELF is deemed highly offensive regardless of context

 

I've only been called a cunt a few times. One sticks out in my mind I was in Toronto, and some guy called me a Frenchie cunt. Granted I was wearing a Canadiens shirt in Maple Leafs territory, but still. That's uncalled for

I've never understood why people seem to think its highly offensive to women when in fact its very gender and subject neutral. Anything and anyone can be a cunt at anytime. Many an inanimate object, politician, situation, public figure and fictional character has been labeled as such by yours truly. In the UK in some sections of society and subcultures the c-bomb is even used as an inverse term of endearment!!! Of course it shouldn't be used for anyone you love, like or respect.

 

It's offensive stateside because it is used only as a pejorative for a woman's vagina and generally not applicable to a male as in the UK.

 

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Richard Nixon (Watergate). There's 4 of them right there, in fact those are all male ones of special magnificence.
