I see what you are saying, but it is the random conversation thread. Not the omg-I-have-it-so-bad-that-you-can't-even-imagine-so-don't-dare-post-here thread. As far as I've seen, there's been no equating during the discussion, just a healthy conversation.
No you don't, I'm not excited by that. Agreed. If police forces and/or people found a way to cause the internet to become "militarized" (which really is possible), you would have to change your opinion. We are already a police state (same thing with Canada, England, Hong Kong, etc.), what do you propose we do if the Internet goes the same direction? I would like to be supportive of the video's message but I can't and it doesn't mean that I don't like women. In some ways this video makes things worse for them and not better. I didn't mention this in Goodlove's thread, but one of the biggest problems of this video is that it creates a perception amongst the men (and perhaps some women also) that any woman of any race is no better than the stereotypes unfairly given to some black women, that they are loud, argumentative, aggressive, in-your-face, narcissistic, mental illness, etc. We have had battles about this in the past already. Also, they already have the hardest time trying to navigate through the dating market, and if the mass media were to make this representative of all races of women, then you would be living in a society where 75% of the population doesn't want to get into a relationship while the other 25% manages to do so.
a. It is warranted to say that the Internet and some areas of real society (such as the workplace) are not a female-friendly environment either. If you're aware of GamerGate, you would see it and other examples include commentary on blogs, female CNN hosts complaining about discrimination directed towards them, Don Lemon's reaction to a police officer's rant about women in late-August, etc, Don Imus talking about black women being nappy headed, etc. b. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub..._2014/54_think_u_s_society_is_fair_and_decent I missed the point of the video on purpose just to make that post. I find it unlikely that the video will foster any social change. Now I could design the same kind of argument that I did about feminism and make it about who the spokesperson is for issues pertaining to blacks and other minority groups. Our leaders are Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama and Eric Holder. Things have not really gotten better with them being the spokespeople for us. The best we have is if Dr. King was still alive today and he's not. A white guy got very angry and shot him.
Damn, wish I could rep you for this. I'm going to have to come back to this post once I spread it around a bit first.
Just saw the "leaked" Avengers 3 trailer (supposedly debuting next week during shield), shit was nice...
This is what I get neg repped for lol. Nothing offensive or mean. I wish these big babies would sign them so we can just ignore each other.
What? You are tired of protesting for your human rights?!!! You are on your ass at home typing on the couch in a IR forum. Wtf? Tired? From what ? Gtfoh with that bs
"Foul?" Luckily we have a bye this week so any foulness is going to be saved until we run over the Gators next week lol. You know me too well
Foul ? Thats basketball. Just like a ga. Fan. Lol Its flag on the play or a penalty. Who suppose to give yall a beat down next week
No, they don't call us thugs, they just call us sluts and try to slut-shame us if we report a rape. No, we aren't called thugs. But we are humiliated in other ways when we report a rape and it goes to trial. "Well, maybe you shouldn't have worn that short skirt" or "maybe if you didn't show cleavage or wear those high heels this wouldn't have happened to you" or "no really means yes" or "maybe you shouldn't have had those drinks and left the bar with a strange guy"....etc etc etc. A helluva lot more rapes happen around the world than are being reported for these very reasons. Can we just appreciate and support each others' struggles and NOT try to "one up" our struggle over someone else's? Excellent post. I repped you, but I wasn't able to finish it before it went away. Always a voice of reason....thank you.
That is irrelevant when women in places like the Middle East would have to hide their raping, lest they'd be stoned to death for being penetrated before marriage, which is far more severe, mentally and emotionally than isolated incidents involving a police officer shooting someone here. And if they don't get killed, then their rapist can literally go scott free and she would have to fear for her life.
