I think what a lot of people don't get is when you have a organization whose purpose is to address racial issues as it pertains to black people, a group for the most part mistrustful of white people/white culture it really doesn't help to heal the wounds by a white person passing themselves off as black to head such an organization. Yes I know it wasn't specifically for that job but none the less it confirms a lot suspicions a lot of us don't want to have in the first place.

Two of the founding members of the NAACP where White, one of whom was the son of a former slave owner.

The first president of the NAACP was a White man, Moorfield Storey.

Her being really White doesn't impact at all her being the director of a regional NAACP organization.

The NAACP's principal objective is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group citizens of the United States and eliminate race prejudice. The NAACP seeks to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through the democratic processes.

In an odd way Ms. Dolezal is the embodiment of a world without racial discrimination or race prejudice.

No one is really making a big deal about her being 'white'

Many black activists are comfortable with white activists and would have preferred if she approached her mission in civil rights/black empowerment without her charade (just like the hundreds/thousands of other whites involved)

She was against whites and non-blacks herself when it came to leading different movements, but felt comfortable enough to disregard her own decrees
