Good idea. Let's ask the 10K BW on the hater site I like to whine about what they think.
When someone can break it down concisely why a WW deciding to be Black and choosing to pass as such is inherently racist, not just racially offensive, maybe I'll bend on this is.
But no one can.
Now a WW with a tan is racist. A perm is racist. Working for the NAACP posing as a BW is racist.
Yes she's reasonably attractive, but that's not why I'm not that bothered by Ms. Dolezal's life pursuit. When you see her talk and try to explain herself, I think her choice to be Black is sincere, if misguided.
This is the crazy thing about those harping on her tan.
If Ms. Dolezal tanned her skin to look less White, that's okay.
But if she did it to look more Black, that's a no-no.
LOL. Insanity, although both points of view are practically the same.
And no one can tell me which reason motivated Ms. Dolezal to get a tan.
Blackface as performance was usually meant to deliberately mock Black folk in the most grotesque way possible in a manner that caricatured their very humanity.
BTW people use the phrase 'racially offensive' and 'racist' interchangeably and that's wrong.
Some of my friends found Robert Downey's performance in Tropic Thunder racially offensive(I didn't..IMO it was about as close to the line as you can get to doing something really inappropriate in comedy but not quite crossing it), but it definitely wasn't racist.
If this.....

Wanna know what's up with Rachel Dolezal??
Read about it below from the perspective of another White person who's gone through a similar struggle, which is the reason I can't understand all the anger directed at her.
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/mercyn...hite-ally-has-a-little-bit-of-rachel-dolezal/
Read two pages.....they said the same thing tdk, i and bliss been saying.....shes a liar.
Hit out of the ball park
You keep forgetting KinCA. She has made some pretty brilliant assessments.
That's you bruh who fights himself into a corner when he knows he's wrong, just on some misguided sense of principle and ego self-preservation.
If I think I'm out on a logical limb with no point to make, I'm not gonna sit there and pout like some people around here do....constantly.
So are people upset with Ms. Dolezal because on some level she's a dishonest person, or because her assuming a Black identity is racist in its intent and execution???
No one has defended the lying about her background, or alleging crimes committed against her. (The Howard lawsuit if you check it I think was with merit, but I don't think she won.)
But I just don't have a problem if a WW believes she can become a BW and that's how she chooses to live her life, which seems to be the main 'lie' people are most concerned.
The last one sorry really doesn't bother me.
Finally there are lots of Black folk, etc. who refuse to be identified as African-American or Black because they believe both terms are either too broad or too limiting.
Ms. Dolezal didn't say she was African American, but you left out she sure as hell said she identifies as BLACK.
Many West Indians I know use those same excuses not be called Black/African American because it doesn't identify them culturally and assumes they are historically Black(in America) and not from immigrants.
See, the thing for me is, Ms. Dolezal saying she's Black is about par as someone from the Dominican Republic or St. Croix saying they aren't Black.
If it works for you, live your life.
P.S. - I think Ms. Dolezal can pull off being a BW better than someone from St. Croix who looks like they were at my family reunion saying they aren't Black.
Would someone pls rep this fella,
Curious if you see her as a black woman, or white woman...
I hope someone at MSNBC give this lady a spot next Dr. Mellisa Harris or Rachel Maddow
I see her as a human being, but we all got to be labeled in Amerikkka right, she was born white but identify as Blk as simple as that. She has assimilated and culturally blk, she did not do it for mockery or to cheat the system so she can gain great wealth. To me she appears to be sincere and her heart is not trying to be malignant. She just a troubled lady. Don't get me wrong I don't condone her falsification of those crime reports and totally against that and wished she hasn't..... but to call her all sorts of names and throw her under the bus coz of her identity crisis is cruel. Her parents if they loved her they will sit down with her and try to help work thru her issues and be there for her rather than throwing her under high speed bus in nationally televised media, smh
I think it's a little disingenuous to say the reasons for the offense are simply fraud. Lots of people commit fraud and don't get this sort of air time. So let's not pretend.
Some of you are offended about her claim to being black. Plain and simple.
Someone here essentialized the pro-Rachel camp by stating we're just honored that she wants to be black. This is nonsense.
There are black women who dye their hair blonde or red or brunette. Are white people "honored" at the sight of that? Nope. No one give's a shit.
No one really cares when white women tan to extreme lengths. Sure, there may be a few objections here and there... but nothing as in-sync as what we're seeing about Rachel, who is putting mind and body to affiliating with being black.
Besides, I think this sort of deception is understandable. Why do we live in a world where society tells us what race we belong to?
I think we can all agree she wants to be black. To be so, you can't pretend to be black. Your very being has to be so. You have to say so in your job applications and assert that identity to your community in order to be accepted that way. If she were honest, her claim wouldn't be accepted. It wouldn't be accepted by many blacks (as we can see with the responses here). And it wouldn't have been accepted by her parents (as we can see in the interviews).
And then you have live with the scorn of hundreds of black people denying you access because you are not descended from their cumulative struggles.
I think enough is enough.
This is about cultural access. I think that's the keypoint . Rachel can be black. We love her for it. We embrace it. That's my philosophy.
