When things are the way things are, that is an indicator that people are content on it. Yes, I know people don't like crime. the question is do they dislike enough to come out of their little bubble and create crime prevention programs. the answer is no in many cases.

It is easy to type or talk much harder to do the things I am talking about. That's where the rubber hits the road.

I know I report all crime I witness. To the sometimes chagrin of some of my friends. They tell me 'don't get involved, they will come after you." I have felt scared to sometimes, but I did/do it anyway.

I didn't watch the vid, because the guy took too damn long to get to his point, but judging from this thread, he's saying that our outrage is misdirected and implying that until we solve the inner-city carnage it should be okay if we're all considered suspects, hunted down and killed.

Oh I see: because there's mayhem in inner-city chicago, we shouldn't be outraged if zimmerman stalked you down and killed you and then was let off.

After all, you're human, just like those guys in the inner city. And you're american so you're double the suspect. So wave that magic wand and get gangbangers to stop being so menacing in the news on tv!

So should we NOT want justice? We expect more of the damn LAW than we do the fools who kill each other in the gangs. The law is there to protect us, just like it protects "other races" from the gang members. When the law won't protect us, not only are gang members stuck, we're all stuck, no matter how we live our lives.

You can't compare the two issues. That tweet, and that fool in the video compare the two issues. They're different issues. Both are serious problems, but one is more dangerous than the other.

It's not that trayvon was killed (that's tragic, but people get killed). It's that we all knew that zimmerman would walk, and we all know that if the races had been reversed trayvon would have served a long prison sentence. Right here in 2013.

The message this verdict sends to the bullies and to black kids is reprehensible. It will have reverberations in the lives of young black men, as they face the prospect of "just ignoring" a myriad of slights -or- killing or being killed and facing long jail terms. No matter how they live their lives. No escape from that, unlike the gang issue.

It's ignorant to compare the two issues. It just gives ammunition to those people (yeah I know, they don't really exist :roll who have a spiritual grudge against black men.

And you could as easily say: "Cyhi the Prince ignores the issue of gang violence every day, but when someone of another race goes free after killing an unarmed, innocent black teen, Cyhi brings up gang violence."

Cyhi is ignorant.

Personally, I think a great solution would be for the gangs to go after Zimmerman and his family for a cash prize. Now that would be "cool".

Good post. Same thing could be asked about the exclusively all black male members here who chose to defend/support Zimmerman. They all chose to ignore the fact that Zimmerman's actions created the whole situation to begin with but took every opportunity they could to imply Martin was somehow responsible in someway or should have been submissive to Zimmerman's whims or he instigated the fight forcing Zimmerman to defend himself. From their POV everything fell on Martin.

I understand that you can't convict on feelings, only facts, and I figured maybe that's what their position was all about, and I was misunderstanding. And that's one of the big reasons why those same individuals or like minded individuals who frequent the site, when they choose to focus on the issues surrounding the black community, catch heat from most of us other black males here. Their logic on everything involving the black community seems to be based on the fact that black people & black people alone are responsible in some way for any & all of the unfortunate things that occur to either individuals or black people as a whole. Look at Paniro's "victim mentality" response in this thread. Is he saying that everything that goes down in the black community & that black people both those in & out of the community, are not doing anything about the problems is due to "victim mentality"? So what does that say about those without "victim mentality" who see what goes on & say "Not my problem, not my responsibility?"
