BM/WW IR sightings on TV

I'm watching the mid-season premiere of the NBC sitcom "The Good Place" (Season 1, Episode 10) that aired this past week. They got 2 women (Kristen Bell & this British Indian/White biracial chick played by Jameela Jamil) fighting over the Brotha.

This reminded me that outside of maybe black movies/tv shows, you never see BM involved in love triangles with 2 other women. The only other time I've seen it is on Season 1 of "Supergirl".
CB1,Kristen Bell did a great job on House Of Lies. That series had more IR lovin than I had ever seen on any series on TV. Don Cheedle did great too.
I just watched that episode

**Spoilers**
Both chicks friendzone him by the end of the episode.
If you've watched most of the episodes this season, it's clear the writers are establishing a romance between Eleanor (KB) and Chidi (WJH). They might not execute on it for some time (let's hope the show lasts), but they're antagonistic dynamic is what television writers want in love interests. They're opposites who have great timing and chemistry. William Jackson Harper's performance as Chidi is refreshing and proves that BM can play nerdy/charming and get the girl as well.
Am I the only person who thinks Kristen Bell has gotten finer over time? When I watched "Veronica Mars" years ago, I wasn't really into her. It wasn't till I watched "House of Lies" years later till I changed my mind on her. Now whenever I see her on TV/movies she looks fine to me.

I don't remember any other ones, mainly because I try to forget. But Tarzan was always a white love story in Africa. lol. I think I touched on "Don't Shoot The Messenger".
There was a program on AMC about Tarzan in the movies. Elizabeth of Toro, an African tribal princess and actress on the film Sheena with Tanya Roberts gave her opinion of Tarzan and Jane. She stated that Tarzan had been waiting for Jane. If Jane hadn't come to Africa, Tarzan would have been with an African woman. Africa had been a place of adventure for for white men. Edgar Rice Burroughs, author of Tarzan, was in the Army and he served with black soldiers. He had a lot of respect and admiration for them. Outside of those men he didn't really care for the black race. After making his fortune with his books and stories, he bought land in California and founded the city of Tarzana.

Just came across images. Has anybody seen this show? If so, are they a couple on the show?

We mentioned this show in this thread last year.

EDIT:

I just realized the chick in the pics is the lead character, not his wife that's a recurring character.

What are some other examples of Movies/TV shows with a ww from a black/urban community who managed to find a white savior love interest? 1 of the black podcasts I listen to that does movie reviews felt this way about Jane/Margot Robbie in the Tarzan that came out this past year.

Uhhhh....How does "Don't Shoot the Messenger" fit this criteria?

I saw this promo for a new upcoming CBS legal drama called "Doubt" starring Katherine Heigl:

Looks like potential IR between Katherine Heigl & Dulé Hill.

I've always loved KB. I didn't really watch Veronica Mars, but what few snatches of it I saw, I liked her.

I watched a program from Australia called Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. It is set in Melbourne during the 1920's. Miss Phrynie Fisher is a socialite and private investigator who is very much ahead of her time. In an episode called Framed For Murder, she is in bed with a nude black man. I guess that they didn't want to show the scene because she gently squeezes the black man's right butt cheek. If you have Netflix, check it out. It's a pretty good show. And actress Essie Davisis magic as Fisher.

Lennie James (The Walking Dead) is writing and starring in his own drama called Gone which also features Stephen Graham and Suranne Jones

Story follows Nelson Rowe (James) – a man who likes a drink and whose days are bookended by his first can and his last pint. He lives with whichever woman he happens to be sleeping with at the time – often more than one and sometimes more than two. And he is the life and soul of the pub – a charmer, a chancer, a fighter, a liar and, at his age, a man should know better.

When he is accused of a terrible crime, he sets off to clear his name and find the real perpetrator. It is a journey that slams him up hard against the debris of his careless past but also offers him the chance to make amends for his mistakes, not least to Claire (Jones) with whom he had a love affair with 13 years ago.

I'm watching the season finale of "The Good Place" that aired last week right now, this love triangle is back on.

The love triangle dynamic will only get weirder. Eleanor loves Chidi; Tahini loves Chidi, Chidi has a rapport with both. Eleanor has the hots for Tahini. If it gets renewed, shits gonna get real. They might write an executed love triangle. Eleanor said she was down to swing earlier in the season so this show has promise.

If it gets renewed? It better. Only smart comedy out there on network tv right now

Freeform (the network previously known as ABC Family, but was rebranded last year) is entering the Marvel business with a live-action series based on the “Cloak and Dagger” comic book.

The network for young adults previously gave a straight-to-series order for the project which follows Cloak (Tyrone “Ty” Johnson) and Dagger (Tandy Bowen) – a superhero duo that’s been affiliated with other Marvel teams like the X-Men, the Secret Avengers, the Runaways, and others (according to the Marvel wiki page).

Cloak’s super abilities include teleportation, and an ability to link to the “Darkforce Dimension” (I’m sure fans of the comic know exactly what that is); and Dagger’s abilities include creating “daggers” of light; and can heal others.

They are also romantically involved.

More from the Marvel wiki: Tyrone “Ty” Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger) met in New York City as runaways. Tyrone was a 17-year-old boy from Boston, Massachusetts with a debilitating stutter and ran away to New York City when his speech impediment prevented him from stopping his friend from being shot by police, who mistakenly believed he had just robbed a store. Tandy was a 16-year-old girl from a privileged upbringing (born in Shaker Heights, Ohio) who ran away because her multi-millionaire supermodel mother was too busy with her career and social life to spend time with her daughter. When they met, Tyrone considered stealing Tandy’s purse, but before he could a thief stole the purse and Tyrone retrieved it for her. Afterwards, they had dinner and became fast friends. When naïve Tandy accepted an offer of shelter from some strange men, wary Tyrone went along to protect her. The two teens were soon forcibly delivered to criminal chemist Simon Marshall developing a new synthetic heroin for Silvermane and the Maggia, testing it on runaway teens with fatal results. Johnson and Bowen somehow survived injections of the drug, and they fled. During their escape, the drug turned them into superpowered beings. Tyrone found himself engulfed in darkness and seized by a strange hunger which eased in the presence of Tandy glowing with a brilliant light. Trying to hide his newly shadowy appearance in a makeshift cloak, Tyrone began absorbing Marshall’s thugs into his darkness while Tandy struck them down with daggers of light. The two teens dubbed themselves “Cloak & Dagger” and declared war on drug crime in combating drug-dealers and helping runaway children.”

According to the website Season-zero, via our friends at Geeks of Color, Gina Prince-Bythewood is set to direct the “Cloak And Dagger” pilot, produced by Marvel Studios & ABC Signature, for Freeform.

Prince-Bythewood retweeted the Geeks of Color link to the announcement, along with the statement,”Making my two boys very happy…” So we can assume that this news is legitimate.

No casting announcements at this time, but expect some news on that front soon. A 2017/2018 season debut is likely.

Joe Pokaski (“Underground”), John Ziffren, and Megan Thomas Bradner are all producing.

The Freeform series is a co-production of Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios. It’ll be the third live-action Marvel project for an ABC affiliated network.
