Knock-knock. Just dropping by after Ole Skool to leave a note: "We should never confuse racism with bigotry". My racist boss always made sure that I was paid better than most of my counterparts. So don't think for one minute that the NBA Owners, etc. aren't racist. Black women just gotta step up their game takes all; I'm a universal man, wasn't put here just for them. Nough Said!

If friends and a lover both told you that you were racist you should think about it.

    Maybe you are prejudice.

Sleeping with or having a relationship with a person from a different background to your own does not make you automatically exempt from being prejudice.

It can be very subtle. I have seen it many times, especially from young women who think cos a man is black they are going all hood for a little bit. Some Men play to that too if they want to get laid.

I haven't used this format in way long..so I can't remember how to show seperate quotes.

Your fathers reasoning was exactly that of my mothers when I told her my ex and I were going to a movie. This was in 2003 and I was so shocked to hear this come out of her mouth that I was rendered speechless. She phrased it like I would get flack from other people (and I did) but I also got a lot from her and sadly he did too. He finally told me, after two years or so of keeping his peace to keep her away from him.

The story at the mall is just awful. I guess people are entitled to an opinion but it has to stop at some point. Maybe that point is before you open your mouth and express it?

Hell if I know. Thanks for sharing. Finding a common ground with someone else who has experienced it is very helpful.

I am thinking about it, obviously.

I have caught myself at certain times thinking things that would be considered..racist. But I catch myself and STOP IT, because I don't want to be like that. I was raised by a racist so I think some of it is just from what I grew up with and I didn't know any different THEN.

The subtle stuff is what I think about mostly..because thats what I was shown growing up. Stuff that you might not be able to point a finger at and go "Hey! that's outright offensive". But it's ALL offensive if it comes from a place of thinking you are better than someone based on something you can't control like skin color or who your decendents are.

I think it's an uphill battle that I never dealt with bc it is an uphill battle. I have to question a lot of what I heard and experienced during childhood and see how that plays out in ways that I am not aware of as an adult.

That's why I asked for opinions.

One woman's acknowledgment of verbal expression is another woman's logorrhea. :)
