Can't live W/O my funk music!

[Gorath]

This may not technically be funk, but it is classic R&B with a distinct funky bassline. Besides I like this vid back when people knew how to DANCE!@!lol

Not technically funk, but the Philly Soul sound. It was very distinctive. Often imitated. It came before disco. And it was great. I love The O'Jays.

Aww a huge favorite! Great pick, Ore. I gotta say this clip you found was wonderful! Damn, they were truly musician-performer-singers back then.

My other very fav song of theirs…it's not very funky or even much popular, just very special to me…

A tragic plane crash not only kills Otis Redding but some Bar Kays members as well.
Hear the words from the only survivor from that day. v

Yeah, damn near the whol original line-up. I wonder how different the band would've been had they not died.

[Soulthinker]

Otis Redding was among the persons killed on that flight.

Wow! This thread takes me BACk! Some great tunes in here. A lot I've never heard and some I'd totally forgotten. I thought I was the only one that ever liked or even heard of the Brothers Johnson. Lol.

Great thread, Bliss! :smt055
