The Women in my family, for instance, tend to mate for life. When my Great Grandfather died young, my Great Grandmother never married again. Why should she? No one made her feel like he did. She didn't need a Man, she needed *him*. Without him, who cares? My Mother never dated again after she & my Dad broke up back in the 70's. Why should she? She didn't feel like it. But nobody judges them, because once a Woman's been married & had a child she's "Won". She's done everything our society demands of her. So she can be "single" now, and nobody calls her "Single". It's sick.
Some people want to be part of a couple. Some want constant attention (fuck knows I do). Some really prefer life by themselves. Most people go through transitions in their life when sometimes they want to share their life, and sometimes they don't. That's why marriage is hard on many couples, because you have to love each other in every situation. Women who don't want any of that, for as long as they live, until they die, actually exist. And they tend to make smart Men in the right place a the right time very happy for a few hours.
Everybody should just let each other be and stop trying to remake society in their own image. Nothing in the world makes one as happy as pursuing their own goals and forgetting whatever the fuck the tv, their friends, and the people at work think. Just do you.
